MK Stalin to get a special welcome in Delhi while meeting PM Modi: What's on his agenda?

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin is all set to unveil his first tour to Delhi after assuming office, a month ago. On a heavy-packed agenda, MK Stalin will be touring Delhi for three days during which he will be visiting national leaders including the President, the Prime Minister, and various Union Ministers. As he is going to meet Prime Minister Modi for the first time since becoming the Chief Minister, Stalin's visit will be drawing national attention. 

According to reports, MK Stalin will be departing from Chennai in the evening hours of Wednesday - June 16 in a chartered aircraft and he will be carrying high-ranking state government officials including Chief Secretary Irai Anbu to Delhi. Upon reaching the capital, he will be given a grand welcome at the Tamil Nadu House and Stalin will be driving to the Prime Minister's Official resident at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in which he will be meeting Prime Minister Modi on June 17.  

The reports say that Modi has decided to give a special welcome to MK Stalin. Stalin will be staying at the Tamil Nadu House and the Prime Minister has decided to send one of the bullet-proof cars from his security detail to bring Stalin to his residence to meet him. Former Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa had got this honour of driving in the Prime Minister's security detail and now, Stalin will be receiving such honour. 

Stalin's meeting with Modi is expected to last for an hour during which the Chief Minister will be discussing around 35 matters concerned with the state with the latter. The officials of the Prime Minister's Office and Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Irai Anbu will be participating in the meet. Stalin will be placing the demands of the state government to the Prime Minister across all corridors including scrapping NEET, repealing the hydrocarbon project, increasing COVID-19 vaccines to the state, and releasing outstanding GST dues. 

After the meeting, the reports say that Stalin will have a private meeting with the Prime Minister for about ten minutes. Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, MK Stalin will be driving to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 18 and will call on President Ram Nath Kovind and during his meeting with the head of the state, Stalin will be elaborating the needs and demands of Tamil Nadu. After meeting the President, Stalin will also be meeting Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.

On the front of his agenda with the Union Ministers, Stalin will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his first leg of the front, and during the meeting, he will be pressing Amit Shah to provide more COVID-19 vaccines to Tamil Nadu and will also discussing the appointment of new Director-General of Police in Tamil Nadu as incumbent DGP Tripathi IPS will be demitting the office soon. 

While meeting Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, MK Stalin will be demanding the former to release the outstanding GST dues to Tamil Nadu and he will then call on Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss the installation of an army factory in Tamil Nadu and about the adversary for the national security through China's drive of establishing a port in Sri Lanka. Apart from these matters, he will also be demanding the Center to take immediate steps to establish AIIMS Hospital in Madurai and increase the supply of medicines for COVID-19 and Black Fungus Infection to the state.

Besides meeting these leaders, MK Stalin will also be meeting Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the first time after becoming the Chief Minister. Stalin will also be examining the construction work of the DMK's office in Delhi. Under the provision that the party which has not less than 10 Lok Sabha MPs would be allotted land for constructing the office, the DMK has got land in 2013. 

DMK has got land near BJP's headquarters in Delhi and the construction work for DMK's office is going on and Stalin will also be taking stock of the construction during his Delhi tour. According to reports, DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan and DMK Treasurer TR Baalu had already gone to Delhi to make arrangements for Stalin's tour and newly-appointed Special representative of Tamil Nadu to Delhi AKS Vijayan will be going to Delhi on Tuesday. It has been expected that, after completing the tour, Stalin will be returning to Chennai in the morning hours of Saturday- June 19.
