MK Stalin pours a huge relief...Happy news for TN Police officers!

In what has become a huge relief for the Tamil Nadu Police officers, Chief Minister MK Stalin has on Wednesday announced the order of providing one day week off for the police personnel across the state. The order has come to ensure the wellbeing of the officers and in the interest of providing them with a healthy livelihood.

The order has been passed nearly two months after the announcement made by the Chief Minister in the assembly that a mandatory week-off will be provided to the police officers. In his announcement in the assembly, MK Stalin said that the police officers will be offered a week off to take care of their health and to spend more time with their families.

The order has become a piece of happy news for the police fraternity and it has garnered commendations to the government. The official press release said that as per the announcement made by the Chief Minister in the assembly on September 13, 2021, the government order regarding the week-off for the police officers has been passed on Wednesday - November 3.

The release further said, "This order, which has been issued in the interest of the police officers, will be a good relief for the police officers who are incessantly executing their duties and facing various challenges and it will also give a revival and boost for them to carry out their duties." Earlier this July, Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu has issued a circular to his department ordering that police personnel must be given a day off every week without fail in order to maintain their health.

The order from Sylendra Babu has also directed the officials to provide leave for police officers on their birthdays and wedding anniversaries. His order has said, "Overtime duty allowance should be paid to the personnel who are on duty on the rest day, skipping their weekly off". It further instructed the Commissioners of Police in the cities and the Superintendent of Police (SPs) in the districts to implement these directives without fail.
