MK Stalin's decision brings him trouble...ADMK demands his answer!

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's decision has boomeranged against him by bringing trouble from the opposition parties as the parties had taken the same banner that Stalin used while he was the Opposition leader in the state last year - reopening the TASMAC outlets in the state amid the lockdown and pandemic.

The opposition alliance including ADMK, BJP, and PMK had vehemently voiced against MK Stalin's decision of reopening the state-run liquor shops. On Friday, the state government has announced that the lockdown in the state will be extended till June 21 and the Chief Minister has announced a slew of relaxations in 27 districts where the COVID-19 cases are declining.

The government has permitted the TASMAC liquor shops to function from 10 am to 5 pm in these 27 districts including Chennai from June 14. However, Stalin's decision of resuming the TASMAC shops didn't catch up well in the state as the opposition parties in the state had slammed the state government with ADMK and BJP highlighting that Stalin had protested against the resumption of the liquor shops last year when he was the opposition leader.

Taking to Twitter, the current opposition party in the state ADMK released a video clip of Stalin's protesting against the TASMAC resumption last year. By using the slogans used by Stalin, ADMK demanded his answer. The opposition party wrote, "Tamil Nadu government should shut down TASMAC liquor shops. Are TASMAC shops required while people are dying of viral infection? Do not open TASMAC shops that will bring law and order problems and affect the lives of people. MK Stalin, you raised these questions last year, so what's your answer now?"

In another tweet, the ADMK has asked, "After knowing the role of TASMAC in spreading coronavirus and that it is inhumane to reopen them, why is Stalin permitting to reopen the shops? To affect whose lives?" BJP leaders had joined the ADMK and slammed MK Stalin in a similar tone and called Stalin's protests last year a drama. The Tamil Nadu BJP unit had strongly condemned Stalin's decision of reopening the TASMAC shops.

Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President K Annamalai, who was the former IPS officer, took to Twitter and wrote, "Opening up of TASMAC shops in Tamil Nadu from June 14 shows us a couple of things - The priorities of this government over a common man's welfare, the promises of DMK when they were in the opposition (against TASMAC) and all the drama they did then. Complete somersault today."

PMK founder Ramadoss said, "Tamil Nadu government's decision of reopening the TASMAC shops between 10 am to 5 pm is condemnable. Coronavirus cases are reducing step by step in the past four days and with that scenario, reopening TASMAC will lead only to increasing cases." He further said, "The government has announced Rs 2,000 assistance on one hand but on the other hand, it tries to get back the assistance by reopening the TASMAC shops."

"How is this right? Can the DMK, which condemned reopening TASMAC last year, do the same this year? Even after a change in the rule, the scene hasn't changed!", Ramadoss added. By citing that reopening these shops will reduce the revenue earned by the underprivileged, Ramadoss has demanded the government not to open the TASMAC shops and he also urged the government to implement the state-wide liquor prohibition.
