Renowned director Mohan Raja has cropped up with a humongous task of remaking a super hit Malayalam movie 'Lucifer' into Telugu. In what has become his first release in five years, the project has been titled 'GodFather' and it has roped in a handful of top stars. The trailer of GodFather was unveiled on Wednesday at a lavish event.

GodFather has Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara in the lead role and the movie has been slated for a theatrical release on October 5. The trailer which runs over two minutes displays a purely political action treat from Chiranjeevi to the viewers. "Our state CM PKR is dead," the trailer's opening line reads. The action entertainer theme of the film, which centres on a political Godfather who unexpectedly dies and leaves a large number of people hoping to succeed him and take over his position of authority, is that "everyone who appears nice isn't really nice."

In order to stake their claim, fraudsters begin to plot against the opposition, but eventually, it becomes obvious which name is the real successor. In Malayalam, Lucifer is helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and it stars Mohanlal in the lead role. Manju Warrier's role in Lucifer is played by Nayanthara in GodFather while Bollywood icon Salman Khan plays a crucial role in GodFather through which he makes his debut in Tollywood.

Both Bolly and Tolly fans can't handle their thrills as they instantly begin tweeting when the two megastars share the screen at the same time in the trailer. On Wednesday, production house Konidela Pro Company released the trailer. It took to Twitter and wrote, "Meet the Most Dangerous & Mysterious Man - The GodFather. #GodFatherTrailer is here."

While it is bankrolled by Ram Charan's Konidela Pro Company and RB Choudary's Super Good Films, GodFather is distributed by PVR Pictures and Magic Frames. Besides Chiranjeevi, Salman Khan, and Nayanthara, the movie also stars Puri Jagannadh, Satyadev Kancharana, Samuthirakani, Murali Sharma, and Tanya Ravichandran. Thaman composed the music. Mohan Raja's brother and actor Jayam Ravi shared the trailer on Twitter and wrote, "Extraordinary trailer na @jayam_mohanraja, blockbuster written all over it."
