MS Dhoni gets closer to Chennai: Dhoni Entertainment is all set to produce a Tamil film...Who's the director?

Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is all set to unveil a new venture that would strongly bridge his bond with Chennai, the city he proudly calls as his second home. Being celebrated as a legendary batsman and India's successful captain, Dhoni is currently leading the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League while his production company 'Dhoni Entertainment' forays into producing movies. 

Dhoni and his wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni, sure have a lot of plans for their first venture as producers. The prestigious couple's recently launched Dhoni Entertainment and the company is getting ready to venture into mainstream film production with a Tamil film. The announcement concerning the same was made on Tuesday - October 25 and the company further revealed that the movie will be directed by Ramesh Thamilmani. 

Ramesh Thamilmani has authored 'Atharva - The Origin', a new age graphic novel, featuring MS Dhoni. In its official statement, Dhoni Entertainment said, "The exceptional bond that Dhoni shares with the people of Tamil Nadu is eminent. Reinforcing this extra special relationship further, Dhoni Entertainment will be producing its first film in Tamil, a family entertainer conceptualized by Saskhi Singh Dhoni, the Managing Director of Dhoni Entertainment the project is set to go on the floor soon and will be directed by Ramesh Thamilmani, who has also authored Atharva - The Origin, a new age graphic novel. The cast and crew of the film will be announced shortly." 

Talking about the Tamil project, Ramesh said in a note, "From the moment I read the concept written by Sakshi, I knew it was special. The concept was fresh and had all the potential to be a fun family entertainer. I am honoured and very grateful for this opportunity to develop this really fresh concept into a feature film story and to be directing the film as well."

Beyond Tamil, Dhoni's production company is in discussions with a number of directors and writers to create content in a variety of genres, such as science fiction, crime drama, comedy, suspense thriller, and more. Vikas Hasija, Business Head, Dhoni Entertainment said, "Post pandemic, the business of the mainstream films in India has become a singular entity, the boundaries are blurred and there is no regional cinema vs Hindi cinema debate anymore." 

"As more Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films are equally celebrated in the nation, Dhoni Entertainment is exploring projects in multiple languages", Vikas added. He further said, "Our priority is to reach our Indian audiences in every nook and corner of our country, through meaningful stories. Through our first film, we will be originally made in Tamil, it will be released in multiple languages."
