Simbu's hotly anticipated Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu trailer was officially unveiled at an event ceremony at Vels University in Pallavaram on Friday with none other than Kamal Hassan as the chief guest. In what has become the first-of-its-kind occurrence, Silambarasan and Ulaganayagan both arrive at the venue on a chopper.
The film will be in two parts, which was declared in the trailer's closing credits under the tag "Part 1: The Kindling." The trailer runs for over two minutes and it chronicles Muthu's (Simbu) tough journey and features a voice-over from director Gautham Menon, who states at the start, "This is a true life story of a Man, A Life." Isaipuyal A R Rahman's background music in the video was expertly elevated, seamlessly blending into the suspense surrounding Muthu's voyage.
The movie's trailer and audio were unveiled by Kamal, who also congratulated the actor on his development over the years and wished him luck. In a resplendent event, Kamal Haasan's response to Simbu's question put the arena into a rousing moment. Simbu asked Kamal, "If you wanted me to act in the remake of any of your films, which film would it be?" Kamal Haasan responded by saying, "You have to perform in a lot of films. That's what I hope. Though if you want to act in any film, you have to act with me." Immediately the arena erupted with cheers.
The initial story that Simbu and the filmmaker were working on was different, director Gautham Vasudev Menon disclosed during a speech at the trailer launch event. He put the film on hold because he wanted to try something fresh, and with the aid of writer Jeyamohan, a new plot was subsequently developed. He stated: "First, we were filming 'Nadhigalilae Neeradum Suriyan'. Then I had a change of heart and preferred a different tale. I again presented a fresh story to the producer, music director, and actor after speaking with writer Jeyamohan."
Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu will get released on September 15 and it will be distributed by Udhayanidhi Stalin under his own banner Red Giant Movies. The movie is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International and AR Rahman composed the music. While Simbu plays the leading role, pairing with Siddhi Idnani, the movie also has Radikaa Sarathkumar, Siddique, Appukutty, Neeraj Madhav, and others playing pivotal roles.
