One week of Thunivu and Varisu: Here's the box office sums of both Ajith and Vijay starrers!

While Vamshi Paidipally's 'Varisu' is a heartfelt family drama, H. Vinoth's 'Thunivu,' which starred Ajith, is a high-octane action film. They both hit theaters on January 11 and are still drawing over audiences. Both movies are smashing it at the box office, thanks in large part to the massive extended weekend that began five days after their respective releases.

The makers of Varisu have released a statement confirming the film has earned over Rs 200 crores, alongside a stunning poster of lead actor Vijay. They wrote, "Triple ah received your love in 7 days nanba #MegaBlockbusterVarisu crosses 210Crs+ collection worldwide #VarisuHits210Crs". After the success of Beast, this actor's next film also became the first of 2023 to earn 200 crore at the box office. The family entertainer Varisu is not only a huge hit in India, but also in other markets across the world. An influential trade expert has noted that Varisu is doing well in Norway and Ireland.

Meanwhile, 'Thunivu's domestic collection has surpassed Rs.100 crores, with guesstimates placing the film's total earnings in India between Rs.120 and Rs.125 crores. After seven days, 'Thunivu' has reportedly made around Rs.160 crores at the worldwide box office and Rs.80 crores in Tamil Nadu. The film has made 44.56 crores in international markets. In total, 3040 theatres around the world featured Ajith's Thunivu.

Popualar film trade analyst reported that in Norway, Thunivu has grossed US$ $9617 from 3 locations, while Varisu debuts at No.6 in Norway with US$ 59246 opening. Pongal 2014 was the last time Jilla and Veeram faced off against one another. Budgeting around Rs 280 crore, Varisu stars Thalapathy Vijay, Rashmika Mandanna, R Sarathkumar, Prabhu, and Jayasudha. Thunivu have Ajith, Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, Pavani Reddy, and John Kokken all play crucial parts, which made on budget of  200-crores.
