Outrageous scenes from the grounds of the prestigious JNU!

Jawaharlal Nehru University, one of the reputed and renowned institutions in India, had carpeted the unprecedented arson and attacks on the students and the teachers on the campus that had unfolded severe unrest and turmoil on Sunday evening after the group of masked men entered the premises and unleashed the brutal violence by injuring dozens and causing major quake and scar on the corridors of the prestigious university.

The sudden unrest has come when Delhi is just days ahead of rolling out the legislative assembly elections and the attack was seen intensifying around 6.30 pm on Sunday where the masked men - at least 50 men- had stormed into the campus with the lathis, stones, and rods. The reports say that around 4 pm, the campus was reported with violence in the middle of the JNU Teachers Association March during which a ruckus was seen between Leftist students and the students and supporters of ABVP - BJP's student wing and at around 7 pm, the group of masked men entered the varsity with lathis and rods and started attacking the students and teachers.

It has been reported that the mob entered the Sabarmati and Periyar Hostels on the campus and assaulted the students and teachers with rods and lathis and the anarchy has resulted with severe injuries of about 30 people including Aishe Ghosh, the president of the JNU Students' Union and the university administration had called on the police after the arson has gone beyond the control. The reports have stated that the mob has the involvement of many outsiders.

Aishe Ghosh was soon taken to the nearby hospital full of blood and she said that she has been brutally beaten by the masked men and cited that they don't know who they are. Soon after the violence has instigated the heat waves across the country, Union HRD ministry has said that the violence in JNU is very unfortunate and highly condemnable and claimed that such acts of violence and anarchy will not be tolerated. The reports stated that the HRD ministry has asked a detailed report from the JNU registrar.

The JNU students union tweeted that the professors of the university who tried to guard the students were also beaten up and it had cited that these were unknown ABVP goons and they have covered their faces. The tweet that was aired in the middle of the arson has called the students to stay alert and make human chains to protect each other. While the injured students have blamed ABVP for unfolding the violence, the ABVP had rebutted and claimed that the students of the Left outfits were behind the terror attack and the BJP students wing said that around 25 students have been injured and many ABVP students were attacked in the hostels that were stormed by the Leftist goons.

The reports have revealed that about 15 injured students have been admitted to AIIMS Delhi including the president of the Students' Union and they have been hospitalized in trauma center with severe injuries in head that were reportedly caused by the rods and sharp weapons. The Delhi police officials have said that the properties of the varsity including hostel windows and cars were damaged and stated that they have received complaints against the mob and the officials are currently probing to identify the masked men behind the arson.

The condemnations and accusations have been pouring in across the country including the alumni of JNU and current Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar and they both have condemned the violence and claimed that this is completely against the tradition and culture of the university.
