In pics: Rubbing shoulders with Vijay...When the students of TN go over the moon after meeting their idol!

The avid toppers of the classes 10 and 12 board exams in Tamil Nadu have brought out their ardent fanboy moment when they met and rubbed shoulders with actor Vijay. On Saturday- June 17, Vijay's social outfit Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI) has organized an event in Neelankarai, Chennai where the actor met and conferred cerficiates to the top three toppers of classes 10 and 12 board exams from every district.

The event, which has been dubbed to be a big social outreach programme from Vijay's outfit to set his political course ahead of the 2026 state assembly polls, has drawn a sharp attention. Around 300 students have attended the event along with their parents and after his brief address, Vijay began to felicitate the students. He took everyone by surprise by gifting a diamond necklace to Nandhini, who scored 600/600 in Class 12 board exam and set a history. 

After felicitating Nandhini, the actor went on to distribute the certificates to every students and while most of the students went on the stage to collect their certificates from the actor, Vijay had come down from the stage to distribute the certificate to the physically challenged students. He also held interactions with a handful of students and during felicitation, he had donned a shawl to every student. 

The mood in the event hall was relishing as the students had celebrated and cried after meeting their favourite idol. Besides hugging the students and greeting them with a smile, Vijay had also shown that he was elated over honouring the students. While speaking to the mediapersons, several students expressed that they are on cloud nine to meet their favourite actor. Some said that it was their dream to see him and that it was unbelievable that they rubbed shoulders with him today. 

Vijay had a resounding welcome from the sea of people when he arrived in the venue hall in Neelankarai and his speech with a strong political touch has further sparked debates about his political entry. The event has become an interesting affair and the students hailed actor Vijay for honouring them and said that if every actor gives an awareness about education, no one will hestitate to pursue their studies. 

In his political aspirations, actor Vijay is building a momentum to set the stage for his political entry and unlike in the past, his outfit members are actively engaging in the social welfare programmes in recent times. From contesting in the local body polls to organizing a food programme, the VMI has exhibiting the preparedness for actor Vijay's political entry. Though the actor delivered a political speech, he didn't spill the beans on his political entry.
