PIL in Madras High court to ban the protests on Babri Masjid demolition day!

With the view of prohibiting the protests that have been scheduled by the Muslim organizations in Tamil Nadu on December 6th, to commemorate the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition day, the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Madras High court to seek the ban.

The litigation has been filed by Gopinath, a lawyer and the president of Hindu Munnetra Kazhagam outfit from Tirupur in Tamil Nadu through which he sought the directions from the High court to ban the demonstrations on that day and any observance of the day in the future. The PIL has been listed to come before the high court bench comprised of Justices Subbiah and Velmurugan on Friday and the plea had challenged the protest that would be organized by Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Social Democratic Party of India.

The Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh was demolished by right-wing Hindu groups in 1992 that had led to unprecedented communal riots across the nation. After the decades' long legal battles, protests, and riots, the constitutional bench of the Supreme court comprised of five justices had unanimously pronounced the final verdict on the Ayodhya land dispute case on November 9th, in which the justices had consented the Hindu groups to build a temple in the disputed site and ordered the Central and State governments to provide alternate land for Muslims to build the mosque.
