Playback singer SPB is battling COVID-19: Remains critical and in ICU! What did the hospital say?

Reputed playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been at the critical state and he has been getting treated on life support. The playback singer has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and admitted to the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai. 

Though he had minor symptoms and said he would be discharged in a few days, the treating hospital has, on Friday, put out the shocking development concerning his health condition. In an official statement, the hospital said, "There has been a setback in the health of Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Healthcare for symptoms of COVID-19 since 5th August 2020".

The statement further reads that "In a late-night development on 13th August 2020, his condition had deteriorated, and based on the advice of the expert medical team attending to him, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and he is on life support and his condition remains critical". 

 

The hospital further stated, "He is currently under observation by the team of experts from critical care and his haemodynamic and clinical parameters are being closely monitored".

On August 5, the playback singer revealed that he has tested positive for the viral infection. SP Balasubrahmanyam, who is 74 years old, said that he was doing clinically stable. In a Facebook message after tested positive, the singer said he has developed cold and it has been the only symptom and he also had complained of a fever and chest congestion. By requesting the people to refrain from calling him, he said that his condition should not be a cause of any concern for his well-wishers and fans. 

He further stated, "I am in good hands, they are taking good care of me. I have good health. I'm perfectly alright except for the cold and fever. Fever has also subsided and I will be discharged in two days and I will be home. I have come here mostly to take rest so there won't be any disturbance to me and to take medication. I am fine, I will be fine".

However, the recent development has shocked many across and beyond the borders as he holds a special and unparalleled place in the film industry with an immense reputation and great following. As a multilingual artist, SP Balasubrahmanyam has been bestowed with multiple national awards and he has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages.
