From PM Narendra Modi to actor Suriya...India pays tribute to its pride Actor Vivek!

India mourns for its precious Ratna Padma Shri Actor Vivek, who passed away at 59 in the wee hours of Saturday in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. The reputed comedian cum social reformer had left the world by etching the fullest definition of life - love and humanity. Ever since the news of his demise broke out, several political leaders and celebrities have been paying their tributes to departed legend.

It won't be superfluous to mention that Vivek has become a household name across the country for his unparalleled contribution to the Indian Cinema and society. Apart from being an actor, Vivek has rendered his selfless service to society by campaigning for change, inspiring the young generation, and planting trees to preserve the ecology. His sudden demise had broken the heart of millions across and beyond the borders and the entire country is mourning for the pride of India. 

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was first in line to pay his condolences to Vivek. Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister said, "The untimely demise of noted actor Vivek has left many saddened. His comic timing and intelligent dialogues entertained people. Both in his films and his life, his concern for the environment and society shone through. Condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. Om Shanti."

In his tribute note, Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu wrote, "Saddened to learn about the untimely demise of noted Tamil film actor Vivek. He endeared himself to the masses through his impeccable comic timing and energetic screen presence. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans. Om Shanti." Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted his tribute note in Tamil and said, "I was saddened to learn of the death of actor Vivek. The amazing talent of his acting made him an outstanding actor. He made Indian cinema special with his talent. He will always be remembered for that. My condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti."

Superstar Rajinikanth took to Twitter and said, "The demise of Chinna Kalaivaanar, social worker, and my dear friend Vivek deeply saddens me. Each and every day that I acted with him in the shooting spot of the Sivaji movie was unforgettable. My deepest condolences to his family members and May Vivek's soul rest in peace." Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan took to Twitter and said, "Friend Vivek was the one who wanted to do something for the community that he did for himself without letting the actor’s duty play out and be done. The death of Vivek, who rose to prominence as the Green Guard at the behest of Kalam is a disaster for the Tamil community."

Actor Suriya said, "You will live in our memory for generations through the thoughts sown in your mind, Vivek sir... We will stand with the family who is suffering from irreversible grief." Dhanush took to Twitter and wrote "Vivek Sir (with three heartbroken emojis)." Music composer Anirudh Ravichander took to Twitter and wrote, "Shocked and devastated beyond words. I remember he was the first person ever to call and wish me when our first song was released. Rest in peace Vivek sir. Your legacy will live on forever."

Director Karthik Subbaraj said, "Really shocking. Rest in Peace Vivek sir". Actor Harish Kalyan, who acted in Vivek's last movie, took to Twitter and wrote, "Really heartbreaking & not able to accept that our @Actor_Vivek sir is not with us anymore!! You’ve inspired millions with your performance, social work, and also by being a wonderful soul! More than an actor, as a human you’ve always won our hearts."

In his tribute note, music director Yuvan Shankar Raja said, "A truly successful person is someone who has made a positive impact in people’s lives, Vivek sir is one of a kind person, he did not only make people laugh with his comedy but also made people think with his wisdom. It is a great loss for us." Director Shankar said, "Today we lost an amazing actor, wonderful human being and lover of nature: Padma Shri Vivek. His contributions to my films, Tamil Film Industry, and to society is immeasurable, so is this loss. May his soul Rest In Peace. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and fans."

Director AR Murugadoss took to Twitter and said, "The news of Vivek's demise is very painful and shocking. His comments, which raised awareness through humor, are immortalized by time. Tearful tribute." Selvaraghavan posted Vivek's picture and wrote, "Devastated". Director Mohan Raja took to Twitter and wrote, "#Vivek Sir Shocking n still unable to believe that this legend is no more Memories of Working with him in Mkumaran will always be treasured Deep condolences to the family"

Jayam Ravi wrote, "I prayed for a miracle that you would come back safe but shocked beyond words now. Memories of working alongside you still remain fresh in my mind. Your greatness will live through your trees. #RIPVivekSir Prayers and strength to the family." Actor Jiiva said, "No words to say shocked. Tamil Industry will always miss ur presence. RIP Actor Vivek". 

Actress Keerthy Suresh wrote, "It is beyond belief that my absolute favorite comedian is no more with us. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to act with the legend, but will always remember those beautiful enriching conversations that I’ve had with him." Besides national leaders and celebrities, the state political leaders have also been expressing their tributes to the Padma Shri actor. 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami took to Twitter and issued a tribute note in which he said, "The loss of Chinna Kalavaanar Actor Vivek, who was the ambitious man planted lakhs of trees, who worked tirelessly to drive the young generation towards development through his ideas, is a disaster for the arts and Tamil Nadu." 

DMK President MK Stalin wrote, "The demise of Chinna Kalaivanar Actor Vivek is shocking. He had a special affection for Kalaignar (Karunanidhi). Why did nature pluck such an energetic actor so soon? My deepest condolences to his family members, friends, and cinema fraternities." AMMK Chief TTV Dhinakaran took to Twitter and said, "I was deeply saddened to hear that the actor Mr. Vivek, who was receiving treatment at the hospital, had passed away. His demise was not just for the screen; It is a disaster for the entire Tamil community."
