Pongal celebrations in OTT: Another 'big' Tamil movie is ready for OTT release!

With Pongal celebrations just days away, the expectations from the fans go high on the release of new Tamil movies on the big screens after a long time. While the fans are waiting for typical holiday celebrations through FDFS and theaters are hoping for a significant breakthrough in the New Year, the latest development has shown that the producers are still in love with OTT platforms as the upcoming movie of reputed actor Jayam Ravi is all set for the exclusive OTT release.

Jayam Ravi's upcoming Tamil movie 'Bhoomi', which is also his 25th film, will be getting released on Disney+Hotstar during Pongal. The actor has on Thursday announced that the movie would directly be coming to the homes of the fans and audiences. Taking to Twitter, Jayam Ravi said, "Bhoomi is a milestone in many in my career. Besides being my 25th project and one that's close to my heart for that reason, it also joins the list of movies released in the times of Covid".

"As much as I was looking forward to watching this movie with my dear fans in theaters, the universe had other plans by helping me pay tribute to them by bringing Bhoomi into their homes. I am excited along with Disney+Hotstar to be a part of all your Pongal 2021 celebrations right in the heart of your homes. There have been many festive occasions when you have visited theaters to watch my films as a part of your celebrations. This time, I feel blessed to celebrate the festivities with a beautiful movie in your homes", the actor added.

Bhoomi is directed by Lakshman and the director joins hands with Jayam Ravi for the third time after 'Romeo Juliet' and 'Bogan'. While Ravi plays a lead role, the movie has roped actor Sathish and Niddhi Aggarwal, who will be making her debut in Tamil, as the female lead.   The entire project has been filmed in the village backdrop, leaving us to predict that the movie would be village and farmers oriented. While Bollywood star Ronit Roy will be playing as the antagonist, D Imman will be composing music. Produced by Sujatha Vijayakumar, the movie has also roped in Radha Ravi, Thambi Ramaiah, and Saranya Ponvannan in important roles. Bhoomi was supposed to get released on May 1, however, it had deferred due to the COVID-19 lockdown and restrictions.

Jayam Ravi was lastly seen in 'Comali' which had earned a decent reputation and following Bhoomi, Ravi has been expected to reunite with his elder brother Mohan Raja for 'Thani Oruvan 2', which would be the sequence of the blockbuster hit 'Thani Oruvan'. Jayam Ravi was supposed to act in Thani Oruvan 2 as his 25th movie, but owing to the unanticipated delay, he had chosen to act in Bhoomi. The reports say Thani Oruvan 2 will commence the shooting in the early next year.
