Mani Ratnam, a veteran filmmaker, has finally finished Ponniyin Selvan's first part, Kollywood's long-sought-after dream project, and it will be released in theatres on September 30. The makers released a new poster for the Poonguzhali character after unveiling the "Ponniyin Selvan" characters with a new poster every day as promotional work over a month ago.

The wait for years to see the Cholas on screen was over and there were only a few days left. In a surprise tweet on Saturday from Lyca Productions, which bankrolls the magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan -1', the maker has revealed the most awaited look of Poonguzhali alias Samudrakumari, played by Aishwarya Lekshmi. Releasing her poster, the production house wrote, "Soft as the wind, mighty as the ocean. Meet Aishwarya Lekshmi as Samudrakumari Poonguzhali!."

"The Grand audio & trailer launch of PS 1 - Sept 6th at the Nehru Indoor Stadium!", Lyca Productions added. According to the original novel, Poonguzhali is a brave and courageous woman who is also called Samudrakumari. She plays a crucial part in the story, as she took a voyage together with Vandhiyathevan to meet Arulmozhi Varman across the ocean.

Aishwarya Lekshmi was last seen on screen for 'Gargi' Sai Pallavi starrer, and received a good reception. Ponniyin Selvan is based on the same-titled book by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The epic historical tale features legends as its subjects, and the film will be released in five different languages: Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Nizhalgal Ravi, Vijayakumar, Nassar, and Balaji Sakthivel will all have huge portions in the film, which is being directed by Mani Ratnam.
