Michael Jackson was the most phenomenal singer of his era and had everything else to boot. He was the treasure trove. His High Pop Art was infectious from every aspect of his performance, including his voice, appearance, and dance moves. Back in the '90s, he was wearing his musical universe under his hat. The announcement that the late icon's 26-year-old nephew Jaafar Jackson would be starring in the Antonie Fuqua-directed film biopic piqued the interest of fans who had been waiting to see his story on the big screen.

He became the most famous singer of the 1980s thanks to his hit singles "Beat It," "Billie Jean," and "Thriller." Jackson was the fifth of Joe and Katherine Jackson's nine children, and was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. The film, as reported by Deadline, will not gloss over Michael Jackson's controversial past, including the paedophilia allegations that dogged his final years before his untimely death at age 50 in 2009 due to a sedative overdose which leads to cardiac arrest.

The Jackson family and estate are supporting the production of the film, which they have titled Michael, "audiences an in-depth portrayal of the man and our brother who became the King of Pop," in a statement released in February of last year, the Jackson family said. Written by "Skyfall" screenwriter John Logan, the film will cover Jackson's entire life, including the iconic performances that made him the greatest entertainer of all time.

The 26-year-old nephew of Michael, Jaafar, and son of Jermaine Jackson, took to Twitter and said he was " humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael's story to life To all the fans all over the world, I'll see you soon," he added. Antoine Fuquaw will helm the biopic, which will be backed by Lionsgate. "Proud to announce @jaafarjackson as Michael - the motion picture event that explores the journey of the man who became the King of Pop. Coming soon," the veteran filmmaker wrote by taking us to his social media handle.

Katherine Jackson, mom of the late pop star, is elated that her grandson will play her son in a movie. "Jaafar embodies my son. It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers," she said. It's worth to note that Jaafar Jackson is also a  singer and songwriter by profession, who has been singing and dancing since he was 12.

His contributions to dance, fashion, music, and his publicised personal life over the course of a four-decade career elevated him to a universally recognised figure in popular culture. But as of the late 1980s, Jackson's changing appearance, relationships, behaviour, and lifestyle made him a subject of controversy and rumours.

He was charged with sexually abusing a family friend's child in 1993. Michael Jackson passed away from a cardiac arrest in 2009 at the age of 50. Rapid online spreading of the news of his death led to website slowdowns and crashes due to user overload, placing an unprecedented load on services and websites like Google and Twitter.
