Popular Kollywood director is in a very critical condition, gets treated in ICU as he battles for life!

In a shocking development, reputed Tamil director SP Jananathan has been in a critical condition and getting treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Chennai. The unanticipated development has come when the moviemaker is in the midst of completing the works of his upcoming movie 'Laabam'. 

According to reports, Jananathan was found unconscious in his home in the evening hours of Thursday. One of his assistants found him unconscious at around 4 pm following which he was rushed to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai. The reports close to the development say that the director is in very critical condition and moved to the ICU for further treatments as he battles for survival. 

He has been spelled as brain dead and kept under continuous observation and the development had overwhelmingly shocked the fans and film fraternities across and beyond the borders. The hospital is yet to release an official bulletin and it has been expected that it will release an update concerning his health condition on Saturday. Jananathan was busy on the editing works of Laabam while he returned to his home on Thursday.

However, he hasn't returned to the studio for a long time following which one of his assistants had gone to his home and was shocked to find him unconscious. The 61-year-old sexagenarian is immensely known for his movies and though not directing a slew of movies, he had earned a huge reputation for his fashion of directing movies and touching some risky subjects. 

Jananathan had made his directorial debut in 2003 through 'Iyarkai' and his first movie was conferred with the National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil in 2004. In his career spanning nearly two decades, Jananathan had directed five movies apart from Laabam and most of his movies had become everlasting pictures. He rose to fame by directing Jayam Ravi starred 'Peranmai' that hit the big screens in 2009. 

Before becoming a director, Jananathan had worked as an assistant to directors like Lenin, Bharathan, Vincent Selva, and Keyar. He also had served as the treasurer of the Tamil Film Directors' Union. Currently, he has been working on his upcoming movie 'Laabam' starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan and it has become one of his most expected movies. The movie is produced by Arumugakumar and Vijay Sethupathi and Imman is composing the music. 

The movie has roped in Jagapathi Babu, Sai Dhanshika, Kalaiyarasan, Ramesh Thilak, Daniel Pope, and Nitish Veera in important roles. Through Laabam, Jananathan is coming back as director after six years. However, the sudden health setback had shocked the fans and fraternities and as he is in a critical state and battles for survival, hundreds of thousands of fans are taking to social media and expressing their wishes to the director for his speedy recovery.
