Popular Tamil actor Senthil tests positive for COVID-19: His entire family is hospitalized!

Popular Tamil actor Senthil has on Tuesday confirmed to have contracted the COVID-19 viral infection post which he was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai along with his family members. The development has come when the state has been witnessing the second wave of the pandemic with several political leaders test positive for the human to human transmitting virus. 

The veteran actor, who has garnered immense reputation through his comedies, has now been keeping himself busy in politics. After being one of the star campaigners for the ADMK for many years, Senthil had recently joined the Central ruling BJP ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly polls and he had taken part in the campaign rallies in the state. Amid the election fervor, the actor had developed symptoms for the pandemic, warranting him to go through the test. 

Following the symptoms, he went through the test which has on Tuesday returned positive. According to reports, along with the 70-year-old actor, his family members including his wife, son, and daughter-in-law had also tested positive for the viral infection. They have been getting treated at a private hospital in Kattankulathur, on the outskirts of Chennai. The actor had fallen ill at his residence following which the entire family had got COVID-19 testing. 

The reports say that Senthil is in stable condition and cooperating for treatment. He may be discharged after three days depending on the doctor's advice. Ever since the news that Senthil tested positive for COVID-19 broke out, thousands of fans had expressed their wishes to the actor and his family for a speedy recovery. The state has been witnessing several political leaders testing positive for the pandemic.

Earlier, DMK MP Kanimozhi and the party's General Secretary Durai Murugan had tested positive for COVID-19 and while Kanimozhi got discharged from the hospital following the recovery, Durai Murugan is currently getting treated in Rela Hospitals in Chrompet, Chennai. The development has come when the state government has imposed a fresh set of restrictions to curb the spread as Tamil Nadu has been recording an exponential rise of COVID-19 cases. 

According to the state health department, Tamil Nadu has recorded 9,40,145 COVID-19 cases so far as of Monday of which 46,308 are active, 8,80,910 have been discharged, and 12,927 had succumbed to the viral infection. On Monday alone, the state had reported 6,711 fresh cases, 2,339 discharges, and 19 deaths.
