Popular wrestler The Great Khali joins BJP: Reveals why he supports PM Modi!

In a surprising event, popular wrestler The Great Khali has on Thursday - February 10 joined the BJP in the presence of senior leaders at the party headquarters in Delhi. His joining has come days ahead of the Punjab assembly polls and the reports say that the party will set the ground for Khali for the election campaign as the Punjab election has been keenly watched by the nation after Uttar Pradesh. 

Khali joined the party in the presence of leaders including Union Minister Jitendra Singh. Earlier, the visuals of the former WWE star entering the BJP office had been going viral on social media, which had spurred speculations about whether he is going to join the party. Khali is the latest entrant to the club of sportsmen and athletes in the BJP. 

Addressing the reporters after joining the party, Khali said, "I am glad to have joined BJP. I feel that PM Modi's work for the nation makes him the right Prime Minister. So, I thought why not be a part of his governance for the nation's development. " The news of Khali's political entry has been getting spread rampantly as several leaders and cadres welcome him to the party. 

He further said that he had joined the BJP as he was influenced by the party's national policy. It must be noted that in 2020, Khali had extended support to the farmers protesting in Delhi against the three farm laws enacted by the Modi government. He also had appealed to the people of India to support the agitating farmers. 

He said that the laws will harm daily wage workers, roadside vendors, and the common men. In 2020, he voiced against the farm laws and in one year, he had decided to join the party which brought the farm laws and later took them back. It must be noted that Khali had made his professional wrestling debut in 2000 in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Before joining the wrestling career,  Khali was an officer for the Punjab Police. 

During his WWE career, Khali had also gone through various experiences and he also went on to become the WWE Champion. He also had appeared in four Hollywood movies and two Bollywood movies. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Punjab will go to the assembly polls on February 20 and the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
