The epic fantasy film Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan, has set the box office on fire with its phenomenal collections. The film, which is based on the epic Ramayana, has crossed Rs 400 crore mark worldwide in just six days of its release, making it one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, was released across the country in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil on Friday, June 16.  According to the official statement from the film’s production banner T-Series, Adipurush has collected Rs 410 crore worldwide in six days of its release. The film is expected to cross Rs 400 crore mark by Wednesday. “The divine tale continues to conquer the hearts of many!  Jai Shri Ram,"  T-Series wrote on Twitter.

However, Adipurush has also faced some controversies and criticism from some sections of the society. Some people objected to the dialogues, VFX and characterisation of the film and accused it of distorting the original story and hurting their sentiments. The film’s dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla had to issue an apology and announce that some of the dialogues will be revised and added to the film by this week.

The film, which is inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, has faced objections from various groups for its depiction of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita and Ravana.  Earlier the film's teaser, poster and trailer have all sparked outrage and criticism from some Hindu groups, political leaders, and even the neighbouring country of Nepal.

The All India Cine Workers Association wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to "stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future" . Despite these challenges, Adipurush has emerged as a winner at the box office and has proved that Prabhas is a pan-India star who can pull off any role with ease.
