Prime Minister Modi to show up to the Parliament today: Here's what we can expect!

The long-vacant Prime Minister's seat in the Lok Sabha is going to get its occupant on Thursday - August 10 as Narendra Modi is all set to address the lower house during which he will respond to the no-confidence motion, that was moved by the Congress party, against his government. The two-day debate on the motion ended on Wednesday with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's speech and the counters from the BJP MPs.

The opposition parties have been urging Prime Minister Modi to present in the house and to speak about the Manipur violence. Modi remains a mute spectator on the Manipur violence for three months, except when he spoke about the incident where two women in Manipur were sexually harassed and paraded naked in Manipur.

As the Prime Minister is coming to the house, it is expected that he will break his silence over the Manipur violence. Lok Sabha will also witness voting on the no-confidence motion. Nevertheless, the Modi government can't be toppled as it commands a clear majority in the lower house. Though the opposition parties will lose the no-trust motion, they can boast that their motion against the Modi regime met the objective - to bring Prime Minister Modi to the house and to speak about the Manipur violence.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday confirmed Modi's presence in the Lok Sabha. He said, "The PM will be present in the House tomorrow to reply to the no-confidence motion." Ahead of addressing the Parliament, Prime Minister Modi held discussions with the BJP Ministers on the no-confidence motion debate and on the government's strategy in Parliament.

The debate began on Tuesday with Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi opened it and raised three key questions to Prime Minister Modi - 1) Why didn't he visit Manipur so far, 2) Why did it take almost 80 days to finally speak on Manipur and 3) Why has the PM not sacked the Manipur CM so far? While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi came to the Parliament on Tuesday after his membership was reinstated, he addressed the house on Wednesday during the second day of the no-confidence motion debate.

In his address, Rahul Gandhi scathingly attacked the Modi regime and said, "They (BJP) killed India in Manipur. Not just Manipur but they killed India. Their politics has not killed Manipur, but it has killed India in Manipur. They have murdered India in Manipur." "You killed India by killing the people of Manipur. You are a traitor, you are not a patriot".
