By quitting the Diwali race, Did Thala Ajith just start a new one with Thalapathy Vijay?

What the Tamil fans had witnessed on Wednesday was not the end of the race, but the beginning of a new one, indeed a big one as the official announcement of the release of Thala Ajith's 'Valimai' has probably put the movie on the race track. Guess who is the contender? It's Thalapathy Vijay. If the Kollywood buzz comes true, the fans would relish a major clash between Ajith and Vijay on their respective movies 'Valimai' and 'Beast'.

Though there have been no announcements from either side over the mega Pongal clash, the reports say that there won't be any surprise if it happens as Vijay's 'Beast' is proceeding at a steady pace with the plan of releasing it on Pongal 2022. On Wednesday, Valimai producer Boney Kapoor took to social media and officially announced that Valimai will hit the screens on Pongal 2022. If Ajith and Vijay clash with each other on Pongal 2022, it will be the 13th such clash between them and the first in seven years.

Lastly, Thala and Thalapathy had clashed in 2014 through their movies 'Veeram' and 'Jilla' respectively. The climate is again coming to relish the fans, who are awaiting to watch a perfect entertainer from both the actors amid the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The previous race between Jilla and Veeram had ended successfully for both the actors. While Valimai is in the post-production, Beast is still on the floor of shooting and is expected to over before Diwali.

Beast is been made as an action film and while the movie is bankrolled by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Beast is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. While Vijay plays the lead role, Pooja Hedge, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Tom Chacko, VTV Ganesh, Aparna Das, and Sathish Krishnan will be playing important roles. Anirudh has composed the music while Manoj Paramahamsa and Nirmal had done cinematography and editing respectively. The first look posters were released in June this year, on the occasion of Vijay's birthday. The reports say that after completing the shooting in Georgia and Chennai, Vijay has been camping in Delhi for further shooting.

On the other hand, Valimai is touted to be an action thriller film. The movie is produced by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects and it is directed by H Vinoth. This trio has reunified after 'Nerkonda Paarvai'. While Ajith plays the lead role, Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Bani J, Yogi Babu, Pugazh, and Pavel Navageethan will be playing crucial roles. The music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja while Nirav Shah and Vijay Velukutty had done cinematography and editing respectively.

The final schedule of Valimai was completed earlier this month in Russia and the posters had fueled more expectations for the movie. Valimai is busy with the post-production works and the teaser of the movie will be released on Thursday. As Valimai has quitted the Diwali race by picking Pongal 2022 for its release, it's likely confirmed that Rajini's 'Annaathee' and Simbu's 'Maanaadu' will be clashing for Diwali. Some of the reports had also claimed that actor Suriya will be joining the Pongal race through his movie 'Etharkkum Thunindhavan', helmed by Pandiraj.
