From Raghuram Rajan to Kamal Haasan...Prominent people and celebs who joined Rahul Gandhi in Bharat Jodo Yatra!

From India's southern tip to India's capital, Rahul Gandhi's unprecedented national march 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is making headlines at every leg of it and after crossing more than half of its itinerary by walk, the Congress leader's rally has lost no strength, thanks to thousands of Congress cadres and of course, thanks to a handful of prominent people whose presence in the yatra has left a mark of significance and takeaway.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's ongoing mass movement began at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on September 7, 2022. With an objective to fight against politics of fear, bigotry, and prejudice, Rahul Gandhi's yatra would cover 3,570 kilometers over 150 days with Jammu and Kashmir as its final destination. Through the walk, Rahul Gandhi will cross twelve states and two Union territories.

Launched by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on September 7, Rahul Gandhi has crossed Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and finally, it has reached Delhi on Saturday- December 24. Throughout the stretch from the southern tip to the national capital, Rahul Gandhi's rally gained more attention with the presence of prominent people from celebrities, activists, to changemakers.

At crucial crossovers, Rahul Gandhi's walk with celebrities had shown that these prominent people have apparently jumped on the bandwagon and supported the Congress leader. When Rahul Gandhi reached Hyderabad, actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt joined him and walked with him for some distance. Sharing a video with Rahul Gandhi on social media, Bhatt wrote, "In times of hate, dare to love!". In Maharashtra's Buldhana district, Rahul Gandhi welcomed veteran actor Amol Palekar and his wife, writer-filmmaker Sandhya Gokhale. In the viral pictures, Palekar and Rahul Gandhi was seen holding each other's hands.

Popular actor Riya Sen joined Rahul Gandhi in the yatra when it reached Maharashtra's Akola district and the Congress leader had also welcomed actors Akanksha Puri and Rashami Desai. When the yatra reached Maharashtra's Nanded, actor Sushant Singh joined Rahul Gandhi and the former tweeted, "Because I will always stand with love". These celebrities had a rousing welcome from the Congress cadres. Earlier this month, when Rahul Gandhi entered Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, prominent actor Swara Bhaskar met the Congress leader and walked along with him for a few distance.

Garnering more attention not only from across the country but also from the BJP, the yatra welcomed former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram Rajan, who is also a staunch critic of the BJP regime. Rajan joined Rahul Gandhi in the yatra on December 14 in Rajasthan. Sharing the picture with him on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Freedom is the essence of Democracy & Harmony is the foundation of a prosperous Economy. We walk for unity and to secure India's future."

A strong opposer of demonetisation, Raghuram Rajan has blamed the Modi government's political and social agenda for the economic slowdown. He often raised concerns about the Modi government's economic and social policies and said that India's future lies in strengthening liberal democracy and its institutions as it is imperative for achieving economic growth. Later, Rahul Gandhi and Rajan sat together and their conversation had become the talk of the nation with BJP slamming Rajan for taking part in the rally.

Now, on Saturday - December 24, Rahul Gandhi's yatra entered Delhi with a bang and at this key stopover, the yatra gave a stirring welcome to Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan as he took part in the yatra in the national capital. The presence of Kamal Haasan in the yatra had poured more significance and sparked a talking point of whether Kamal Haasan is politically allying with the Congress party. As Bharat Jodo Yatra had reached a key stopover, Kamal Haasan is the first known Tamil actor to take part in the march thousands of miles far from home.

Kamal Haasan has taken part in the yatra with hundreds of cadres from his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam. Joining Rahul Gandhi were the Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Pawan Khera, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and Randeep Surjewala. Later, Priyanka Gandhi had also joined his brother as the marched amidst a sea of people. After crossing Haryana, Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Delhi from Faridabad during the morning hours of Saturday.

Makkal Needhi Maiam shared the picture on Twitter and wrote, "People's leaders - Kamal Haasan and Rahul Gandhi." Taking to Twitter, Kamal Haasan wrote before joining the yatra, "Makkal Needhi Maiam functionaries and I are going to participate in the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by my dear brother Rahul Gandhi to protect India's diversity. As an Indian citizen, my contribution will always be there to save the soil, language, and people. Jai Hind."

Addressing the Bharat Jodo Yatra event in Delhi, Kamal Haasan said, "Many people ask me why I'm here. I'm here as an Indian. My father was a Congressman. I had various ideologies & started my own political party but when it comes to the country, all political party lines have to blur. I blurred that line & came here as Kamal Haasan." Kamal Haasan shared the stage with Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and other BJP leaders as he spoke in front of the Red Fort.
