Raj Bhavan calling...TN BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan quits the party as he is all set to become a Governor!

Veteran BJP leader in Tamil Nadu, CP Radhakrishnan has on Wednesday resigned from all the posts and primary membership of the party as he is all set to become the Governor of Jharkhand. Radhakrishnan had a long-association with the BJP and he has now become a league of leaders from Tamil Nadu BJP who were appointed as Governors.

Last Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu had made an announcement of a big overhaul in Governorships since she took office last year. As per her announcement, 13 states would be welcoming new Governors. While some of the incumbents were removed from office, others were transferred to different states. The President's picks also had newcomers and one of them is CP Radhakrishnan, a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu.

CP Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand and he would be replacing outgoing Governor Ramesh Bais, who will assume charge as the Governor of Maharashtra. Radhakrishnan had served as Tamil Nadu BJP President and as an MP. He had been a senior leader in the party and as per the constitutional norms, a person who has been nominated as a Governor shouldn't have any political affiliations.

Owing to such mandate, Radhakrishnan has decided to relinquish his roles and primary membership with the BJP. On Wednesday, Radhakrishnan had met Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai and handed over his resignation. As he is appointed as a Governor, Tamil Nadu BJP had organised a ceremony to greet Radhakrishnan for becoming a Governor and to wish him on his new journey.

The ceremony was attended by the allied leaders of the BJP and addressing the reporters, Radhakrishnan has announced that he will swear-in as the Governor of Jharkhand on February 18. Earlier on Monday, he said, "It is good not to talk politics as being a Governor. One should forgo the interest in politics and focus on developments, if one becomes the Governor."

After being appointed as the Governor, Radhakrishnan took to Twitter and wrote, "My heartfelt thanks to most respected Honourable Droupadi Murmu Ji, our beloved most respected Honourable PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, our beloved most respected Honb HM Shri Amit Shah Ji for appointing a humble person like me as the Governor of Jharkhand and giving me the opportunity to serve the Nation and the beloved people of Jharkhand. I assure to give my best until my last breath to serve the beloved state of Jharkhand and our beloved Nation and repay the trust shown in me by our beloved leaders."

Radhakrishnan has been receiving wishes from the BJP leaders across and beyond Tamil Nadu and on Tuesday, he met Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi and received the latter's wishes. Radhakrishnan wrote, "Delighted to meet our Honourable Tamil Nadu Governor Shri. RN Ravi Ji at Raj Bhavan, Chennai today and get his good wishes on being appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand."

CP Radhakrishnan is the third BJP leader from Tamil Nadu under the BJP regime to become a Governor after Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is the Governor of Telangana and the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and L Ganesan, who was first appointed as the Governor of Manipur and now, he has been appointed as the Governor of Nagaland.
