Superstar Rajinikanth pays tribute to NT Rama Rao at centenary event The 100th birth anniversary celebrations of late superstar and politician NT Rama Rao, popularly known as NTR. The Tamil actor graced the event as the chief guest along with TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and NTR’s son Nandamuri Balakrishna. The event took place in Vijayawada and several pictures of Rajinikanth’s warm welcome by Balakrishna and Naidu have gone viral on social media.

Rajinikanth’s speech at the event was also a highlight as he remembered the influence of NTR on his life and career. He revealed that he was inspired by NTR’s films like Lava Kusha and Sri Krishna Pandaveeyam to join the film institute in Madras and pursue acting. He also said that he imitated NTR’s portrayal of Duryodhana in a play when he was a bus conductor and received applause from the audience.

The superstar also heaped praises on Balakrishna, who is also an actor and politician like his father. He said that what Balakrishna does on screen can never be done by any other actor, not even Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan. He said that the Telugu audience sees an image of NTR in Balakrishna and that’s why they love him. He also wished him success in both films and politics.

Rajinikanth, however, refrained from making any political statements about himself or Chandrababu Naidu. He said that his experience prevents him from discussing politics and he only came to pay his respects to NTR, whom he considers as his guru and role model.

Rajinikanth is currently busy with his upcoming film Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film features him as a jailer who is on a mission to stop a criminal gang. The film also stars Shivrajkumar, Sanjay Dutt, Mohanlal, Ramya Krishnan, Jackie Shroff and Tamannaah Bhatia in key roles.
