From Rajinikanth to TN CM EPS...Celebrities and political leaders pray for Actor Vivek!

As Padma Shri actor Vivek battles for survival after suffering from a cardiac arrest, several celebrities, and political leaders have been extending their prayers for the reputed comedian for a speedy recovery. Vivek was hospitalized in Chennai in the morning hours of Friday and he has been getting treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of SIMS Hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai. 

Vivek's sudden hospitalization had shocked the fans and fraternities and it has come a day after he received the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. He had complained of chest pain and suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday and the news of his hospitalization had drawn major attention across and beyond the borders with many people expressing their wishes to the actor for his speedy recovery. 

Superstar Rajinikanth has one among the celebrities extending his prayers for Vivek. Taking to Twitter, the recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award said, "I pray to Almighty God for a speedy recovery of my friend actor Vivek." Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan wrote, "My friend Vivek has received the COVID-19 vaccine at a government hospital to allay the fears among the people over the vaccine. I wish he recovers soon." 

Kamal Haasan further said, "The doctors have said that there is no connection for the vaccine in his (Vivek) health setback. Let's stop bracing up unnecessary fears and spread rumors during the time of pandemic and let's co-operate with the government". Music composer Anirudh said, "Get well soon Vivek sir. Our prayers for your speedy recovery." Actor Harish Kalyan, who acted with Vivek in the movie Dharala Prabhu, took to Twitter and wrote, "Praying for your speedy recovery @Actor_Vivek sir. I'm sure you’re gonna come back even more stronger." Apart from the celebrities, several political leaders have also extended their prayers to Vivek. 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami took to Twitter and wrote, "I was heartbroken to learn that actor Thiru. Vivek is admitted to the hospital due to cardiac arrest. I pray to Almighty God that he recovers soon and returns home." Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam said, "I pray to Almighty God that my dear brother Actor Vivek, who is admitted to the hospital today due to cardiac arrest, gets speedy recovery and returns home soon."

DMK President MK Stalin took to Twitter and said, "I am saddened to know that Actor Vivek, who makes people happy through his social reformation ideology, is hospitalized. He must recover soon and continue his service in arts and ecology." AMMK chief Dhinakaran took to Twitter and wrote, "I wish the actor Mr. Vivek, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital due to ill health, a speedy recovery. I pray that he will continue his work which has delighted millions of people with his talent."

Dhinakaran had also used the hashtag #PrayForVivekSir. VCK chief Thol. Thirumavalavan said, "I wish my friend Vivek, who is undergoing treatment at the hospital, a speedy recovery." Actor-turned-politician Sarath Kumar took to Twitter and said, "It is shocking to hear that my friend Vivek has been hospitalized. I wish him a speedy recovery." 

The hospital where Vivek is admitted had in the evening hours of Friday issued an official statement concerning the actor's health condition in which it has said, " "Actor Padma Shri Dr. Vivek was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state by 11:00 am today (Friday) to the emergency by the family members. He was resuscitated in the emergency room by specialists."

"Later he underwent Emergency Coronary Angiogram followed by Angioplasty. He is currently in critical condition on ECMO in the Intensive Care Unit. This is an acute coronary syndrome with cardiogenic shock. This is a separate Cardiac event. It may not be due to COVID vaccination", the hospital added. Through its statement, the hospital has asserted that Vivek's ailment was not associated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
