Rashmika Mandanna's first film as the main lead! Director says that this film will be seen in her "most mature performance"

Rashmika Mandanna, who has been winning hearts with her performances in films like Geetha Govindam, Bheeshma and Sulthan, is all set to star in her first main lead film titled Rainbow. The film, which is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, who also bankrolled Sulthan.

The film was launched on Monday with a grand pooja ceremony in Hyderabad. The event was graced by eminent personalities like Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind where Amala Akkineni sounded the clap. The shooting of the film will begin from April 7. It's worth noting that Samantha Prabhu was originally slated to play the lead role in the film.

Rainbow is directed by debutant Shantharuban and features Dev Mohan, who will be seen opposite Samantha in Shaakuntalam, as the male lead. Veteran actor Rao Ramesh also plays a pivotal role in the film Rainbow. The film is said to be a breezy romantic fantasy that will showcase Rashmika's most mature performance yet.

"Rainbow will be an of kind romantic fantasy story in Indian cinema. You will see Rashmika's most mature performance yet. The movie will tug at your heartstrings and at the same time enthrall you with its inventive storytelling" says the director Shantharuban.

Rashmika Mandanna said, “For the first time I am playing as the protagonist where the story is shot from the girl's perspective. I am so so excited to bring this character alive for all of you. Rainbow is definitely such a movie that will both entertain and excite you.. the journey of the audience with the girl is going to be a crazy ride so bucket up all, this is going to be a fun ride.” 

The actress last seen in Thalapathy Vijay starrer Varisu, has a slew of projects lined up in both Telugu and Hindi industries. She will be seen opposite Allu Arjun in Pushpa: The Rise, which is slated for a Christmas release. She will also reunite with Nithiin for Venky Kudumula's next film after Bheeshma. In Bollywood, she will make her debut with Mission Majnu opposite Sidharth Malhotra and also star in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal with Ranbir Kapoor. The film is expected to hit the screens later this year.
