"Rest in peace my child": Superstar Rajinikanth pays tribute to Puneeth Rajkumar!

Superstar Rajinikanth has paid tribute to the deceased Powerstar of Sandalwood, Puneeth Rajkumar. The iconic actor of the Kannada cinema had passed away on October 29 at the age of 46 in Bengaluru due to cardiac arrest. The untimely demise had immensely saddened the cinema industry and anguished millions of fans across and beyond the borders. Puneeth Rajkumar, who was fondly called 'Appu' by his fans, was laid down to rest with full state hours, leaving behind his two daughters and a legacy. 

Nearly two weeks after Puneeth's demise, superstar Rajinikanth had paid tribute to the departed soul and noted that he was hospitalized and receiving treatments when he was informed about the actor's death. Rajinikanth had released an audio message on the Hoote app in which he expresses condolences to Puneeth's family. Sharing the link on Twitter, the Superstar wrote, "I can't able to accept that you are no more Puneeth, Rest in peace, my child." 

In his audio message, Rajinikanth said, "My greetings to everyone. I am recovering well after the treatment. Puneeth Rajkumar had an untimely demise while I was in the hospital. I was informed (about his death) two days later. I was deeply saddened to hear the news. It was very painful. He was a child who grew in front of me and was he was a child with talent and kindness. He has passed away at this young age when he was at fame. His loss is irreplaceable for the Kannada film industry. I am left with no words to console his family members who are grieving over his loss. May Puneeth Rajkumar's soul rest in peace." 

It is pertinent to note that Puneeth Rajkumar had congratulated Rajinikanth, four days before his demise, over receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award. On October 25th, Puneeth Rajkumar wrote on Twitter, "Hearty congratulations @rajinikanth sir on receiving India's Highest Film Honour #DadasahebPhalkeAward." It was one of his last Tweets and it was going viral following his demise. Several national leaders including Prime Minister Modi had paid tribute to Puneeth Rajkumar. 

Puneeth Rajkumar was fondly called a Power star and for his fans, this Diwali was filled with dusk as he had passed away on October 29 in Bengaluru at the age of 46 due to cardiac arrest. He had complained of chest pain while he was working out in a gym during the morning hours of October 29 and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He was brought in a critical state and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the treatment, Puneeth had breathed his last during the same day and left his fans to grieve incessantly.

The death of the young icon had drawn attention from across and beyond the borders and his body was kept at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru for the public to pay homage. In an unprecedented fashion, lakhs and lakhs of people had flooded towards the stadium and paid their tribute to the deceased actor. Puneeth Rajkumar's body was laid to rest on October 31 at the Kanteerava Studio with full state honours and several political leaders had paid tribute to the power star, who had left a remarkable legacy.

In the footsteps of his father, legendary actor Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar's eyes were donated as he was agreed for donating his eyes after his death. His eyes had given vision for four young people and it must be noted that his mother Parvathamma's eyes were also donated. Puneeth was survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth, and two daughters, Vandhitha and Drithi Rajkumar.
