Senior BJP leader found hanging inside a park: Police launch a probe!

In a shocking development, a senior BJP leader in Delhi was found hanging at a park in the national capital in the evening hours of Monday. The police have launched a probe into his death and the body was sent for autopsy. The development has come days after a BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh was found dead by suicide in his Delhi residence.

According to reports, Gurvinder Singh Bawa was the former vice-president of Delhi BJP. He was found hanging from a grill at a lake inside a park in Delhi's Subhash Nagar area on Monday evening. The 58-year-old BJP leader was a resident of Fateh Nagar in West Delhi and he was suspected to have died by suicide. The development had shocked the locality and the BJP party, which has been witnessing more such incidents in recent times.

As Bawa was suspected to have died by suicide, the reports claimed that he could have taken the extreme step due to domestic issues. The police have launched a probe into his death to ascertain the cause. A senior police officer said, "We received a call at around 6 pm about the incident. The investigating officer went to the spot and found a man hanging. Bawa's son, Ishwender Singh, came to the park and identified the body".

The police officer further said that Bawa's body was taken to DDU Hospital in Delhi and the autopsy examination will be conducted to ascertain the cause of death. With no suicide note recovered, the reports say that the police have been probing the case based on the preliminary inquiry that Bawa had committed suicide over domestic issues.

Bawa is the second BJP leader to die by suicide in two weeks as earlier, BJP MP from Himachal Pradesh was found dead by hanging. Ram Swaroop Sharma was serving as a BJP MP in Lok Sabha representing the Mandi parliamentary constituency in Himachal Pradesh. He was a two-time parliamentarian, elected in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Sharma was 62-year-old and he reportedly was suffering from ailments for the past few months.

He had been residing in a residence in Delhi and he was found dead in the morning hours of March 17, 2021. According to reports, he was found hanging in his room following which the law enforcement agency was alerted. The police had come to the residence and recovered his body. As the room was locked from inside, the police said that Sharma had died by suicide. The police had launched a probe into his death and a police official said that the BJP MP was found hanging inside his room, which was locked from inside and no suicide note has been found.

The sudden demise of the parliamentarian had saddened the BJP and the Central ruling party has canceled its Parliamentary party meeting, scheduled to take place on March 17, after learning the demise of Ram Swaroop Sharma. It must be noted that earlier in February, 58-year-old Mohan Delkar, an MP from the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli was found dead in a room at a hotel. The police had recovered the suicide note in which Delkar had blamed a number of people, including a senior politician, behind his decision of ending his life.
