Shane Watson was true: He did what he said! See Dhoni's strong message to the opponents

When Dhoni came up with the same team amid the call for introspection, it painted less hope on the fans who strongly desired their favorite team to get revived. However, what we witnessed was an awe-inspiring game that etched the meaning of real and stylish chase in a way that is meant for the Chennai Super Kings and when it was doubted on its batting line-up, reminiscent of previous matches, the opening pair of the Super Kings had shown that Dhoni's decision would be flawless and would be a permanent class.

It seems that the Chennai Super Kings are destined to chase scores in every match in this series. Kings XI Punjab won the toss this time and had put the CSK into bat, making them start as the bowling side consecutively. Much of the discussion goes into MSD's team selection nowadays since he has been criticized for this in the last few matches. The same team of lions was his answer to such criticisms and the retention of Kedar Jadhav in the team even after so much of backlash, surprised everyone. And Dhoni is known for surprises.

Kings XI started really well with Mayank and Rahul playing sensibly without losing their wickets. KL Rahul played brilliantly yet again scoring 63 runs. Mandeep and Pooran played quickfire innings but couldn't make a big score. The back to back wickets of Pooran and Rahul by Shardul Thakur in the 18th over reduced the momentum built and had an impact on the final score of the team. They scored 178 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.

CSK was under pressure when they came to bat because they struggled to chase lesser targets in the previous games. Watson was under tremendous pressure, but he smoked off such pressures in his watto smash. He came back to his ultimate form right from the start. With 11 fours and 3 sixes, he scored an unbeaten 83 and proved that he cannot be written off at all. On the other hand, Faf was fabulous once again. He scored an unbeaten 87. CSK chased the target in just 17.4 overs without losing a single wicket.

The pressure that put on the opening partnership of the Chennai Super Kings was getting vanished as Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis didn't spare any bowlers from Punjab and punished them right from the start and they had built a momentum that CSK would be dangerous when they are on the pressure. When Watson hit a six of 101 meters, he unleashed the real game-changing moment and the opening pair had made history for the CSK in the IPL, leaving the fans to relish on seeing the team getting back on the track of dominance.

In the previous match, CSK was stumbled to chase a target of 165 and within a day time, they came back with the real roar and smashed Punjab by chasing a target of 179 runs and pushing the Kings XI to the bottom of the table. Shane Watson and Faf had chased the target in their style and took the team to reach the target of 179 and CSK has won the game by ten wickets in what has become a historical chase, which probably no team can deliver than the Super Kings.

With a historical chase, Chennai Super Kings had made a new history of setting a record in the opening partnership of scoring 181 runs in the IPL history and Dhoni's army sent a strong message to the upcoming opponents that they aren't easy to deal with when it comes to chasing. On Punjab's side, the team had a captain's knock from KL Rahul with a supportive partnership from Mayank Agarwal while Nicolas Pooran and Mandeep Singh had tried to take the team beyond 200 but CSK's Thakur and Bravo had restricted them to end up scoring 178 for four in 20 overs. In chasing, the Super Kings had punished Shami, Jordan, and other bowlers of Punjab as nothing worked out before the smashers Watto and Faf.

Nothing could have given more happiness to the CSK fans who were depressed with the back to back poor performances of the team. CSK was brilliant in restricting KXIP to a score of less than 200. And during their batting, it was magic all through from Watto and Faf. This innings would do Watson a world of good with regard to his mental temperament. He proved that he completely deserves Dhoni's confidence. On the other hand, since no wicket fell for CSK in their chase, we have to wait and see whether Kedar Jadhav gets into form in the upcoming games just like Watson did.

When the fans were expecting just a win, CSK won it by 10 wickets and have given a silent statement to the other teams. Never underestimate the kings. One of the memories that we can take from the match is Dhoni's smile during the presentation ceremony as the captain was in full energy from exhaustion as he answered the critics that the team is on the revival path and his smile had shown wait for more such plays in the future.

On October 3, Shane Watson took to Twitter and said, "The perfect game for Chennai Super Kings is coming". Eventually, he did what he said with more than a perfect knock, it was indeed a roar from the lions that are desperate to conquer the game. After the match, Dhoni said, "The kind of start we got in batting, that's what we needed. We needed momentum with the right kind of shots. Watto and Faf had backed themselves with the shots they have known for". Speaking about Watson's batting, Dhoni said, "It's not about being more aggressive. He was hitting it well in the nets and what you need is to do that in the middle. It was just a matter of time".
