Sharad Pawar revealed Modi's proposal for an alliance in Maharashtra!

Sharad Pawar, the chief of Nationalist Congress Party who played a strong role in stitching a tri-party coalition of Congress-NCP and Shiv Sena which assumed to power last week in Maharashtra, has now revealed the proposals tabled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the view of allying with NCP when the state has been screening the political drama in holding the baton of power.

In an interview to a Marathi TV channel on Monday, Sharad Pawar has said that Prime Minister Modi had proposed a plan for working together in the state but the veteran Maharashtra politician claimed that he rejected the offer and dissented the proposal of Modi in offering a central cabinet post for his daughter Supriya Sule, by citing that sharing the throne with BJP is not possible. He stated that, by denying the offer, he had conveyed Modi that their relations are good and underlined that despite having good relations, its not possible of working together.

Through his interview, Sharad Pawar has dismissed the claims that the Modi government had offered him the post of Indian President to replace Ram Nath Kovind in 2022 and admitted that there was an offer from the BJP to her daughter to get inducted in Modi-led cabinet if NCP agreed to ally with BJP in forming a government in Maharashtra.

These offers and proposals were tabled by Prime Minister Modi to Sharad Pawar when the duo met last month in Delhi during the uncertain and aberrant developments in Maharasthra that were presented by the National and Regional parties in forming the new government in Maharashtra as no party had reached the majority mark in 288 assembly seats.

Sharad Pawar further stated that the decision of not having Ajit Pawar sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister, along with Uddhav Thackeray who took oath as the Chief Minister on November 28th was consciously made by citing Ajit's support to Devendra Fadnavis. He noted that he reached out to Uddhav Thackeray after his nephew allied with BJP's Fadnavis to form a government where he told Thackeray that Ajit's decision was not right and asserted him to crack down the support extended by Ajit Pawar to BJP.

On October 21st, the state of Maharashtra went for legislative elections for 288 assembly seats and the results that were declared on October 24th had revealed that no party had attained the majority mark of 145 seats. BJP got 105 seats whereas Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress had acquired 56, 54 and 44 seats respectively. With having no majority, Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena had united as one coalition under the name of Maha Vikas Aghadi. On November 28th, the Chief of the coalition Uddhav Thackeray has sworn in as Maharashtra's 19th Chief Minister by ousting the BJP rule.
