Shocking: A 22-year-old married woman commits suicide in Chennai!

In a shocking piece of news, a 22-year-old woman has on Monday - January 3 committed suicide in Chennai. She was married three months back and was attending a college in Anna Nagar. The preliminary investigation suggests that she could have taken the extreme step after an early marriage, as she had expressed her despair to her parents that she had married early while her friends are continuing their studies freely. 

According to reports, Rajendran, a resident of Sathyamurthy Nagar in Chennai's Vyasarpadi, has two daughters with the elder being the 22-year-old girl. The girl was pursuing her Masters in a college in Anna Nagar, Chennai, and amid her study, she had got married to Akilan, a resident of Avadi, Chennai three months ago. She was found hanging to death at her husband's residence on January 3- Monday and her mother had ruled out any foul plays in her death. 

The woman's mother had moved her complaint at the Avadi Police Station in which she said, "My husband is working in a private firm and we have two daughters. The elder daughter was studying Masters in Commerce at a college in Anna Nagar. She got married to Akilan from Avadi three months back. My daughter was living in a joint family and the groom's family didn't take dowry from us after the marriage. My daughter had desired to continue her education and we conducted her marriage. She was even attending college after her marriage." 

The woman's mother has said that her daughter had expressed despair over her early marriage and said that her friends weren't gotten married yet. The mother has said that she had received a call from her daughter's mother-in-law on Monday and said that her daughter had closed her room and wasn't responding. The mother said, "I was at Arakonam when I received the call and I rushed to my daughter's house and with the help of the neighbouring people, we have opened the closed door." 

They were shocked to see that her daughter was found hanging from a ceiling fan. The 22-year-old was rushed to the hospital and she was declared brought dead. The woman's mother had appealed to the police in her petition that there is no foul play in her daughter's death and to provide the mortal remains of her daughter after the autopsy to carry out her last rites. Based on her petition, the Avadi police had filed a case and launched a probe. 

The Avadi police officials had said that the 22-year-old woman was married to her relative Akilan, who works in Guindy. She was alone in the home during the time of the incident and she had decided to end her life. Her death is being investigated and as she got married only three months ago, the investigation of the Revenue Divisional Officer has been ordered.
