22-year-old Priya is a native of Usilampatti in the Madurai district and she was working as a software engineer in Chennai. While Priya was attached with United Techno Info Systems Private Limited, that sits on Greams Road, she was staying at her relative's house in Pammal.

Priya started her day on Friday as routinely as every other day until a dreadful incident claimed her life. On Friday morning, she reached Thousands Lights on a metro train and was walking down the road to her office. It has been reported that Priya was accompanied by her colleague, 23-year-old Vinoth Kumar.

Priya was walking on a pavement on the Anna Salai during which the wall of a compound of a ruined building collapsed on her. She got trapped under the wall and an attempt to save her didn't turn up as expected as she was caught under the rubble. While the passersby tried to rescue her, the incident was also reported to the fire and rescue personnel.

A police team from the Thousand Lights police station reached the spot. It took twenty minutes for the fire and rescue personnel to remove the debris of the compound wall. Priya was then rushed to the Government Hospital in Royapettah. However, the doctors examined her and declared that she was brought dead on arrival.

According to the police, the compound wall of the building collapsed on Priya due to the vibration made by an earthmover, that is used for demolishing the old building.
