Shocking accident in TN: How an alcoholic car driver put the life of a pillion rider under suffering?

Dreadfully showcasing the apathy and recklessness of rash-driving lovers and the drivers who drive their vehicles under the influence of alcohol on their fellow citizens, footage of an accident in Tamil Nadu has shocked the entire state as it was in a fashion that it would threaten the people who have their drive under control on highways. The footage was circulated on social media and the visuals were heart-wrenching.

According to reports, the accident has happened on the Salem-Coimbatore Highway at 2.30 pm on July 25 within the Magudamchavadi Police station limits. The visuals have shown that a black-coloured car rammed into two men who were riding on a motorbike and it was apparently visible that the car had thrown off the two men from the bike while the driver was rushed for an overtake. 

The video had stunned the viewers as one of the bikers was seen gravely suffered by the accident. The car, which was later identified as a Hyundai Creta, was trying to overtake the motorcycle and another car through the gap between them and though there was a little gap, the driver of the car recklessly rams the bike and throws them off the road. However, the car driver increased the speed and gone from the spot as if nothing has happened. 

The video footage further shows that immediately after the bike was crashed, the rider, who can be seen wearing a helmet, has struggled to get up and he then checks whether the pillion rider is doing fine. However, the pillion rider was seen shivering after he was thrown off from the bike while the rest of the vehicles passes by. The accident was caught on a camera put on the dashboard of another car that was driving the motorbike. After knowing the development, the Magudamchavadi police had launched a probe to detain the accused driver. 

The driver, who absconded after the incident, was identified as Satheesh Kumar from Perambalur and he was arrested by the police on July 26 - Monday. The police have also arrested three others who were travelling in the car and they were taken into custody for further investigations. The police had filed an FIR against the accused under sections 279 -rash driving or riding on a public way and 337 - act done so harshly or negligently as to endanger human life under the Indian Penal Code. 

The police had on Tuesday day that Satheesh Kumar, who drove the car, had confessed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and the authorities will book him under the sections of drunk and drive in the FIR. On the other hand, the two men, who sustained injuries in the accident, were identified as Ajith and Arun who belong to the Kallakurichi district. Both of them were taken to the hospital after the accident and Ajith, the pillion rider, who sustained grave injuries has been getting treated at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. He is under ventilator support as he had suffered a head injury and battling for survival.
