According to reports, Maharashtra BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale's son Avishkar Rahangdale and six others were travelling in a car from Deoli to Wardha on Monday night. While their car was riding on a bridge near the village of Selsura, the driver has lost control of the vehicle and it has fallen off the bridge and killed everyone on board. Wardha's Superintendent of Police, Prashant Holkar has said that the accident took place at around 11.30 pm last night.

All of them were students of Sawangi Medical College in Wardha. While MLA's son Avishkar and another student Pawan Shakti were first-year students, the rest of them- Neeraj Chauhan, Vivek Nandan, Pratyush Singh, and Shubham Jaiswal were final-year students, while another person Nitesh Singh was a medical intern. BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale is currently representing the Tirora constituency.

According to the police, the students were passing through Selsura in their car and while they were driving on a bridge, a wild animal had suddenly appeared in front of their car. With the view to not collide with the animal, the driver has skewed the vehicle's direction. Unfortunately, he had lost his control over the car and it has fallen nearly 40 feet off a bridge, into the culvert.

Soon after learning about the mishap, the local police had rushed to the spot only to find that all the students had died. They had recovered the bodies and begun further proceedings. Assistant Inspector of Sawangi Police Station, Babasahed Thorat has said, "All seven occupants in the car are dead. No other vehicle is involved in the accident. We received information from the control room after which we had reached the spot."

He further said, "The Xylo car was travelling from Deoli to Wardha and was on an over-bridge when the driver lost control over the wheels and the car hit the boundary wall and fell from the bridge." Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his condolences and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased of the car accident. This compensation would be released from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
