Shocking: The body of a COVID-19 patient is being thrown into river...Watch the video!

In a dreadful development that showcased the apathy of handing the COVID-19 patients and fatalities among people and the governments, a video taken in Uttar Pradesh has shockingly shown that the body of the COVID-19 patient is being thrown into the river by the family of the deceased. The video has been going viral across social media leaving everyone disturbed.

According to reports, the body was thrown into the Rapti river from a bridge in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. The body was of a man who died of the COVID-19 pandemic on May 28 and the family members of the deceased had thrown off the body. The police department told IANS that a case has been filed against the family of the deceased. 

The Chief Medical Officer of Balrampur said that the deceased has been identified as Prem Nath Mishra and he was diagnosed with the COVID-19 viral infection and was admitted to hospital on May 25. He had succumbed to the infection on May 28 and the body of the man was handed over to the family members on the same day. The officer said that the family members and relatives were trying to dump the body in the river. 

A case has been registered against the relatives of the deceased and the body has been handed back to them. The reports say that the incident of throwing the body into the river was caught by some people who were driving on the bridge, which was the spot. They had shot a video of dumping in and two men, one of them in a PPE suit, are seen lifting a body on the bridge over the Rapti river. 

The man in the PPE was seen struggling with the body before throwing it off into the river. As the caught-on-camera video has gone viral on social media which had greatly shocked the viewers, the authorities had urged the people to refrain from disposing of the bodies in rivers. The shocking incident had happened at a high time when Uttar Pradesh had witnessed the Ganga river turning into the bank of bodies. 

Several bodies of the COVID-19 victims were found in the Ganga river and on its shores as they were dumped in and buried in light of overwhelmed crematoriums and after seeing such developments, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had asked all district magistrates to ensure that the bodies were properly disposed of. 

Speaking to IANS regarding the recent incident of dumping the body in the Rapti River, Balrampur Chief Medical Officer VV Singh said, "Preliminary investigations have revealed that the patient was admitted to hospital on May 25, and he died three days later. As per COVID-19 protocol, the body was handed over to his relatives. The relatives threw the body into the river. We have filed a case and strict action will be taken."
