Shocking: This candidate of Makkal Needhi Maiam commits suicide after the electoral defeat!

In a shocking piece of news, a candidate of Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam, who contested in the recently-held urban local body polls in Tamil Nadu, had committed suicide on Friday after getting defeated in the polls. A case has been registered and the police have launched a probe. 

According to reports, 55-year-old Mani had contested from the Tirupur district in the urban local body polls. A resident of the Konganagiri area of Tirupur, Mani had staunchly campaigned with the hope of winning the polls. He also had borrowed Rs 50,000 from his neighbours for his poll expenses. He had contested in ward 36 of Tirupur corporation and eventually, he had only secured 44 votes. 

He had lost the deposit and the race to DMK candidate Dinkaran, who got 3,319 votes. Mani was disappointed over his loss and he was unable to return the money borrowed from neighbours. He also had consumed booze and quarrelled with his wife Subbathal. The reports say that on Friday morning, Subbathal had found her husband hanging dead. 

After receiving information, Tirupur North police have arrived at the scene and sent the body to the Tirupur Government Medical College and Hospital for conducting an autopsy. A case has been registered and the police have said that Mani was a load man and got a seat from Makkal Needhi Maiam. Further probe is on into his death.
