Shocking: Explosives found near Ambani's palatial 'Antilia': Here's what happened!

In a shocking development, the Mumbai Police have on Thursday registered a case against unknown persons in connection with a seizure of a vehicle, which had explosive materials and a letter and was parked close to the residence to India's billionaire Mukesh Ambani. The development had alarmed the law enforcement agency on the possible plot against the industrialist and enhanced the security for the Ambani family.

The police had launched the manhunt to nab the assailants who parked the car near Ambani's residence with 'gelatin' sticks. Ambani's residence 'Antilia', which is the world's luxurious residence, sits on Carmichael Road in South Mumbai, and on Thursday, Ambani's security detail had spotted a car with suspicion as it had a fake number plate. It was parked some hundred meters away from Ambani's residence and it was later informed to the Mumbai police about the matter.

The Mumbai Police had arrived at the spot along with a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team on Thursday evening. They were shocked to see that the vehicle, a Scorpio car, had about twenty gelatin explosive sticks and after a review of the bomb disposal squad, the police had seized the vehicle and launched the probe to arrest the culprits. The vehicle had also carried a letter and the content of the letter wasn't made public.

The car has been seized now and according to Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP S Chaitanya, the registration number of the vehicle matches with the registration number of a vehicle in Mukesh Ambani's security detail. The police had on Thursday night filed an FIR in connection to the matter. The FIR was registered at the Gamdevi Police Station against the unidentified persons. Along with recovering the explosives and a letter, the police also had recovered some number plates from the vehicle.

The police had filed the FIR under sections 286 -negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance, 465 - punishment for forgery, 473 - making or possessing counterfeit seal, 506(2) - criminal intimidation, 120(B) - Criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code. The FIR has also included section four of the Explosive Substances Act which warrants punishment for an attempt to cause an explosion or for making or keeping an explosive with intent to endanger life or property.

Following the shocking development, heavy police were deployed at Ambani's residence, and details concerning the vehicle and who parked it are being probed and the footage from the surveillance cameras in the area is being scanned by the officials from the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police. According to reports, the probe into the matter is being carried out by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has also been involved in the probe to investigate the involvement of any terror plot.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh took to Twitter and said, "Twenty gelatin explosives sticks were found in a Scorpio car in the vicinity of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s residence in Mumbai. The Mumbai Crime Branch police are investigating the matter and the findings will be out soon."
