Shocking: Four schoolgirls in TN drowned in Cauvery river...CM Stalin announces solatium!

In a shocking piece of news, four schoolgirls in Tamil Nadu have died after drowning into Cauvery river on Wednesday - February 15. The dreadful incident had saddened the state and expressing condolences to the families of the deceased girl students, Chief Minister MK Stalin announced solatium of Rs 2 lakh to each family. 

The deceased students were identified as Sophia - Class 7, Iniya- Class 6, Tamizharasi - Class 8, and Lavanya of Class 6. All these students were from Ilupur, Pudukottai. According to our sources, these girls were part of the contingent of 15 girls who came from Pudukottai to private college in Thottiyam in Trichy to participate in a sports tournament. As the tourney was over, the students have visited Cauvery river near Mayanur in Karur district. 

When the schoolgirls were sight-seeing Cauvery river, one of the girls got dragged into it. When she got dragged into river, three other girls attempted to save her, but they also got drowned in the river. When the remaining students had called for help, the incident was reported to the fire and rescue department. A team of officials from the department launched a search to rescue the girls. 

The rescue operation had lasted for over an hour. However, the girls had died and the rescue team had ended up bringing their bodies to the shore. The bodies were later sent to a government hospital to conduct an autopsy. As the news of their demise had made headlines, Chief Minister MK Stalin had expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and announced Rs 2 lakh solatium to each family.

On the other hand, the family members and relatives of the deceased students have been protesting at the hospital by citing that the postmorterm was completed before they arrive at the hospital. The reports say that the relatives had an altercation with the authorities and are refusing to take the bodies.
