Shocking incident in TN: A 14-year-old girl was found charred to death in Trichy!

Amid fighting the Coronavirus outbreak, Tamil Nadu has been witnessing awful and shocking incidents that strongly reveal the prevalence of violence against women and minor girls. Days after a 7-year-old minor girl from Pudukottai was sexually assaulted and murdered, the state has appalled with yet another horrific incident that was reported from Trichy district.

According to the reports close to the developments, a 14-year-old girl, a native of Aadhavathurpalayam, Somarasampettai, Trichy district, was found charred to death near to her home on the evening hours of Monday. The police department, which rushed to the spot upon being informed about the incident, said that the minor girl was studying ninth grade in the government school in the village. The girl has gone missing on Monday afternoon.

The girl was reportedly playing with her friends during which she went to the forest area for nature's call by Monday afternoon. However, the girl didn't turn back to her home. Knowing that her daughter didn't come home for more than two hours, her mother has gone to the forest area to locate the girl by evening. 

Along with her mother, the child's father Periyasamy, and the relatives were searching for the missing girl following which the parents went dismayed to found their daughter charred to death near to Mullikarumbur old bridge near Somarasampettai. After identifying the daughter based on the dress she wore, her parents informed the police about the incident.

According to our sources, Somarasampettai Inspector Sibhi Chakravarthy, DIG of Tiruchy Range Annie Vijaya, and District Superintendent of Police Ziaul Haque had rushed to the spot and investigated the matter. The local people expressed resentments on the horrific crime and they took the roads, started protesting, and blocked the ambulance from taking the body, and demanded the immediate detention of the perpetrators.

Following the development, the Superintendent of Police had assured them that the assailants will be arrested. The residents refrained from the protests following the assurance after which the body was taken to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital in Trichy to perform the autopsy.

The police department asserted that the assailants will be brought to legal books and before justice. With having no immediate reason and background of the crime, the Superintendent of Police, Trichy has installed three special teams under the Deputy Superintendent to carry out the probe into the death of the minor girl. According to the reports, the upper portion of the body, including her face, was found burnt.
