Shocking message from Rahul Gandhi...Congress leaders wish him a speedy recovery!

In a shocking development, senior Congress leader and former party's president Rahul Gandhi has on Tuesday tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection, a day after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has contracted the novel coronavirus. The development has come on a day when Delhi enters into a six-day lockdown. 

Rahul Gandhi has appealed to the people who come in close contact with him to follow all safety protocols and stay safe. Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader said, "After experiencing mild symptoms, I’ve just tested positive for COVID. All those who’ve been in contact with me recently, please follow all safety protocols and stay safe." Though he said he had contracted the viral infection, he hasn't divulged whether he is admitted to a hospital or observing home quarantine. 

Rahul Gandhi has been serving as a Congress MP in Lok Sabha representing the Wayanad parliamentary constituency in Kerala. He had recently said that he will be suspending his upcoming rallies in West Bengal in the wake of the exponential rise of COVID-19 cases in the eastern state. He has become a staunch critic of the Central government over its COVID-19 containment policies. 

The Congress leader had slammed the Central government recently over its vaccine policy and alleged it is discriminatory and that there is no vaccine guarantee for the weaker and vulnerable sections. Earlier, Congress leaders including Randeep Singh Surjewala, Anand Sharma, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda had also tested positive for the viral infection and the three of them are being treated at the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. 

On Monday, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and he was admitted to the trauma center of AIIMS, Delhi. He has getting monitored by a team of doctors. On Tuesday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has spoken to the AIIMS doctors concerning the health condition of the former Prime Minister. 

The doctors asserted that Manmohan Singh has been doing fine and stable. Rahul Gandhi was one among the Congress leaders who wished a speedy recovery to Manmohan Singh. Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi wrote, "Dear Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji, Wishing you a speedy recovery. India needs your guidance and advice in this difficult time." After knowing that Rahul Gandhi had tested positive for the viral infection, several Congress leaders have been wishing him a speedy recovery. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram took to Twitter and said, "Learned that Mr. Rahul Gandhi has tested positive and has isolated himself. Deeply concerned. I wish him a full and speedy recovery".
