Shocking: This parents in West Bengal sell their child to buy iPhone...and to make reels!

Showcasing the shocking trend of reeling with reels on social media, a couple in West Bengal has sold their child to buy iPhone just to put reels. The horrific incident had put everyone aback and displayed our ecstasy on social media that it went to the extent of doing a trade with the child. After realizing that the couple had sold their child, the local residents had reported the matter to the police and eventually, the child was rescued. 

According to reports, the couple had been identified as Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi and they have two kids - an eight-month-old son and a seven-year-old daughter. They are the residents of Barrackpore in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. The couple had decided to buy an expensive phone to shoot reels and videos for Instagram and when it came to the selection, they finally had settled to buy iPhone 14, which is a latest launch from Apple. 

Eventually, they sold their eight-month-old son and bought an iPhone 14. However, when their child was not seen with them for some days and that they didn't file a complaint, the neighbors of the couple developed a suspicion. A senior police official from the Barrackpore police commissionerate said that the couple's child was missing but they didn't file any missing complaint with police. 

The oifficial further said that it was the local residents who got suspicious after they found the couple having a brand new iPhone and they reported the matter to the police. After taking up the case, the police had arrested the mother and the woman who bought the child, while the father had been absconding. The police had launched a manhunt to locate him. 

During the probe, the mother of the child, Sathi, confessed to the crime and informed that she and her husband wanted to use the money to take trips across the state so that they could create content for Instagram reels. The police further said that the father had also tried to sell their another child, seven-month-old daughter. However, they dropped the plan of selling their daughter. 

The police had rescued the child from Priyanka Ghosh, a resident of Khardah who bought the child from the couple. The couple's neighbour alleged that they traded their child for Rs 2 lakh. Laxmi Kundu, the couple's neighbour, said, "They visited many places, like Digha beach for their honeymoon with the money. They even bought a mobile phone."
