Ajith Kumar's action thriller 'Valimai' directed by H. Vinoth, was released on February 24th last year, which was the second collaboration after Nerkonda Parvai. After almost a year in theatres, the shocking news that the film was flagged for a plagiarism case has gone viral. The team's latest endeavor, Thunivu, was released last month and garnered around 200 crores at the box office.

It has been reported that a filmmaker by the name of Rajesh Raja director of the 2019 short film Thanga Sangili, claims that a few scenes from Ajith's film Vallimai are similar to ones in his own movie. He filed a complaint against the 'Valimai' crew with the Police commissioner's office in Chennai. According to the reports, Rajesh Raja has tried to meet with H Vinoth several times before to discuss this matter but has been ineffective. Produced by Boney Kapoor with music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ajith played the lead costarring Huma Qureshi and Karthikeya.

It's worth noting that the Tamil director who helmed Metro, Anandkrishnan, has also filed a case accusing the film's team of plagiarism last year. The Madras High Court has issued writs to both H. Vinoth and Boney Kapoor in response. According to the director, his team has stolen his idea and used his characters and story without his consent. In the film Metro, the protagonist's younger brother was involved in a chain-snatching gang that rode motorcycles.

On the other hand, in Valimai, a good cop named Arjun travels to Chennai to crack a case involving a band of violent motorcyclists. Apart from the leads, Sumithra, GM Sundar, Selva, Pugazh, Dhruvan and Achyuth Kumar played supporting roles.  Nirav Shah handles the camera work, and Vijay Velukutty handles the editing. The film has garnered over 200 crores at the box office amid neutral critic reviews.
