Shocking triple murder: What's the case and how Chennai police nabbed the culprits? Commissioner reveals!

After the tenacious hunt and chase, the Chennai city police had nabbed the culprits connected to the case of triple murders that occurred in Sowcarpet, Chennai. The crime has happened on Wednesday where three members belong to the same family - Dali Chand (74), his wife Pushpa Bai (70), and their son Sheetal Chand (42)  were found dead with bullet injuries at their residence on the night hours of Wednesday. 

Following the shocking development, Pinki, the daughter of Chand and Bai and approached the Elephant Gate Police in Chennai and filed a complaint that her parents and brother Sheetal were shot dead. The police launched the probe and the investigation thread uncovered the revelation that the Chand family was threatened by Sheetal's brothers-in-law Vikas and Kailash. 

According to reports close to the developments, Sheetal had married Jayamala, and after the wedding, the couple had moved to Pune. However, the couple had developed a dispute which pushed them to apply for divorce, and amid the divorce settlement, Jayamala's family was said to have allegedly pressuring Sheetal's family for more alimony as settlement. 

Sheetal's brothers-in-law - Jayamala's brothers, had threatened the groom's family following which Sheetal and his parents were shot dead on Wednesday. Following the complaint of the triple murder, the Chennai Police had installed five special teams to nab the culprits connected to the case. As both families had a connection in Maharashtra, the police suspected that the culprits could be in Maharashtra. 

The Chennai Police then alerted the respective state police and on Friday, on the second day of the crime, had arrested the accused persons including Sheetal's brother-in-law were arrested in Solapur district, Maharashtra. The culprits were chased after a tenacious car chase between the police and the accused. 

Chennai Police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Agarwal had on Friday addressed the reporters regarding the case and the arrest. During the address, he said that the police had formed five special teams to probe the murders, and the teams were led by police officers at the rank of the deputy, additional, and joint commissioner. The probing team had used CCTV cameras, technical and human intelligence to hunt and nab the accused. 

He stated that with being suspected that the accused could have escaped to Maharashtra, the police had alerted the police departments of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The police got the vehicle number of the accused which traced them to Solapur. With having a tip, five police officers of Chennai had gone to Pune at 6.30 am on Thursday to detain the culprits. 

The Chennai police had worked with their Pune counterparts and the vehicle of the accused was spotted at Solapur following which the police neared them to detain. However, the accused paced and tried to evade the spot and there was an intense car chase and finally, the police had arrested three accused persons - Sheetal's brother-in-law Kailash and his two friends, Vijay and Ravindranath. The police department said that the case has the involvement of six persons and asserted that the rest of the accused will be arrested soon.

The Commissioner revealed that Sheetal had already filed a police complaint under the grounds that he had received threats. During the probe, the police identified that there was a dispute between both the families but Sheetal's family couldn't able to identify that who had given them threats and the police were carrying out the probe. He added that the crime had happened due to family enmity and the gun used by the accused doesn't belong to Tamil Nadu and they had brought it from out of the state.
