Shocking twist: These two ADMK candidates join DMK after winning the polls!

In what has become a shocking twist for ADMK, the party's candidate has joined the DMK after winning the local body polls in Madurai. The development comes when the ADMK has been bracing up a debacle in the local body polls after the ruling DMK has secured a comfortable sweep across the state.

According to reports, ADMK candidate Arun Sundara Prabhu had contested for the Councillor poll in the 9th ward of the Melur municipality in the Madurai district. The voting for the polls began in the morning hours of Tuesday - February 22 across the state and as per the counting, Arun Sundara Prabhu has secured the most number of votes in his ward and was declared as a winner.

While the ADMK was celebrating his victory, he had given a shocking twist to the party by switching the side. With the victory, Arun Sundara Prabhu has officially joined the DMK by meeting Madurai DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister for Commercial Taxes, P Moorthy. The picture from the meet has been going viral amid DMK's celebrations across the state after registering a magnificent victory.

The polls for the urban local bodies were held last Saturday and ever since the vote-counting began, the DMK has been leading across the state and the ruling party has defeated the ADMK in its stronghold. DMK has successfully triumphed over the local bodies in the western districts where it had lost in the 2021 assembly polls.

The DMK has also won several local bodies for the first time in several polls and has also drawn significance through the victory by the battalion of the young candidates of the party.  Following Madurai, another elected ADMK Councillor has joined the DMK. The reports say that ADMK candidate Rajesh Kumar, who won the Councillor race in the Avadi municipality had met the DMK leaders after the victory and extended his support to the ruling party. He had then officially joined DMK by meeting Nasar, who is the Tamil Nadu Minister for Dairy Development.
