Singapenne...This Tamil Nadu village celebrates Kamala Harris as its own daughter!

As the United States has been preparing for a historical inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden, the inauguration event has been celebrated by a village that sits on the other side of the globe, nearly thousands of miles away from the United States. While Americans had chosen Kamala Harris as their Vice President, the residents of this village have been celebrating Kamala Harris as their daughter. 

For the residents of Thulasendrapuram village in Tamil Nadu, it is a moment of pride, achievement to cherish, and inspiration to millions of young people as they have been celebrating the history written by Kamala Harris, that sets a new path for women across the globe. Thulasendrapuram, which is located in the Tiruvarur district, is the ancestral village of Kamala Harris and this is the reason why the residents have been celebrating the US Vice President-elect as their own daughter. 

The US is in the mode of making history and Joe Biden will be swearing-in as the 46th President of the United States and Kamala Harris will be swearing-in as the first woman Vice-President of the United States and the first South Asian- American to occupy the second-highest office of the United States. 

They will be taking the oath of offices at around 9.30 pm -Indian time on Wednesday and the entire nation and in fact, the global countries are preparing to watch the inauguration event, which will also mark the end of Trump's regime. 

With Kamala Harris is on the verge of making history, her ancestral village in Tamil Nadu has been celebrating her as 'Singapenne' (Lioness) and on Wednesday, the residents of the village had started bursting crackers and distributing sweets in front of a temple in the village. The villagers had also organized a special puja at Sri Dharma Sastha temple and they were seen holding the portraits of Kamala Harris and they had erected banners to show their scale of celebrations. 

According to a news agency, Sudhakar, the president of Mannai Green City Rotary who organized the events, said the villagers were waiting for the moment and they had also appealed to Kamala Harris to visit her ancestral village after becoming the Vice President of the United States. Sudhakar further said that the villagers had decided to take all the steps to bring Kamala Harris to the village with the help of Rotarians and DMK MP Baalu and added that it will be the greatest honor if she visits the village. 

Thulasendrapuram is the native village of Kamala Harris's maternal grandfather PV Gopalan, who was the former Indian diplomat and the villagers have been celebrating Kamala Harris ever since she was nominated as the Vice Presidential candidate of the Democratic party and the villagers had conducted special pujas to wish Harris the best and the village is currently been filled with the banners of the US Vice President-elect as 54-year-old Kamala Harris prepares for leading the country amid testing times to put the country back on the track of democracy.
