Siva Shankar Baba is now behind the bars...What's in the order of the court?

Self-styled godman Siva Shankar Baba, who has been accused of sexual allegations, is now behind the bars after the Mahila court in Chengalpattu has awarded him 14-day judicial custody till July 1. The incarceration for the godman has come after a stern manhunt against him as he was absconding ever since the allegations against him had come to light.

Siva Shankar Baba was a founder of Sushil Hari International School in Kelambakkam in the outskirts of Chennai and former and current students of the school had recently levelled shocking sexual allegations against him that he had reportedly had sex with them and tortured them by calling him as 'Lord Krishna'. The revelation had exhumed a nightmare that the students had gone through inside the circle of Baba.

Based on the complaint of sexual allegations, the Chennai police had booked a case against the godman under POCSO Act and earlier this week, the case was transferred to Tamil Nadu's Crime Branch - CBCID with the reports suggesting that the godman has escaped from Tamil Nadu. Based on the claim from the school staff that Siva Shankar Baba is admitted to a hospital in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, the team had rushed to the northern state.

However, the officials braced up the fact that he had fled from the hospital and they intensified the manhunt in parallel to issuing a lookout notice against him to ensure that he won't leave the country. The officials had then received a tipoff that Baba is hiding in the residence of one of his devotees in Delhi and the officials had traced his location and finally, they arrested Siva Shankar Baba from Ghaziabad, Delhi on Wednesday with the help of the Delhi police.

After arresting the godman, the officials had produced him before a Delhi court and brought him to Chennai on Wednesday night for investigating him in connection with the sexual allegations. On Thursday, the officials had brought him to a hospital in Chennai for a medical checkup and after completing the medical procedure, he was produced before a Mahila court in Chengalpattu.

Baba had moved his bail petition to the Mahila Court. However, the judicial body had dismissed his bail petition and ordered the police to take the godman in judicial custody till July 1. After the order, the godman was lodged in the Chengalpattu prison. According to reports, while the court was hearing the case on Thursday, several activists had gathered outside the court and protested against the godman with a demand of stern action against him.
