Sivaji's son and the close ally of Superstar Rajinikanth are all set to join BJP!

In what has become another testament to the political trend that the Tamil Celebrities are joining the BJP, Ramkumar, who is the elder son of legendary actor Sivaji Ganeshan, is all set to join the saffron party on Thursday arming the Central ruling party to strengthen its drive of enhancing the party's base in Tamil Nadu ahead of the state assembly polls.

Ramkumar is better known as a producer who produces the movie under the banner of Sivaji Productions. His father Sivaji Ganeshan was a Congress leader and had served as the Rajya Sabha MP of the grand old party. According to reports, Ramkumar will be joining the BJP on Thursday in the presence of Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murugan and BJP National Secretary CT Ravi.

Ramkumar has on Wednesday met Murugan at Kamalayam, BJP's office and after the meeting, Ramkumar addressed the reporters during which he said that he is going to join the BJP because everybody likes Prime Minister Modi and added that he has decided to join BJP even though his father was a member of Congress party. On the other side, the Congress party was shocked to hear that Ramkumar has decided to join BJP.

Chandrasekaran, who is the Chief of the Arts Wing of the Congress party, said, "I am saddened to learn that the son of Sivaji, Ramkumar, will be joining the BJP. Though everyone has the right to join any party, there is a difference in Ramkumar joining the BJP". The Chief of the Arts Wing added that Ramkumar's decision to join the BJP will degrade Sivaji Ganesan's fame and asserted that he will continue in the path of Kamaraj for the development of the party.

It must be noted that Sivaji Ganesan was nominated as a Rajya Sabha MP by the Congress party. The legendary actor was a follower of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kamaraj and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Following the demise of the two leaders, Sivaji Ganesan had in 1988 started a new political party 'Thamizhaga Munnetra Munnani'. However, Sivaji's political career met with the debacle as the actor was not relished as a politician.

Along with Ramkumar, expelled Congress leader Karate Thiagarajan will also be joining the BJP on Thursday in the presence of the state leaders. Thiagarajan had initially joined ADMK and he was elected as an ADMK councilor in the Chennai Corporation and he became the deputy Mayor-in charge of Chennai in 2002. However, he was expelled from the ADMK in 2005 over alleged irregularities and he joined the Congress party in 2006 ahead of the state assembly polls.

Thiagarajan was one of the notable Congress leaders in Chennai and had served as the party's district secretary of Chennai's South district. He had held close ties with former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and when Rajinikanth has said that he will launch the political party, Thiagarajan stayed off from Congress and got close to Rajinikanth. In 2019, he was expelled from the Congress party but he had a complete hope that Rajinikanth will enter politics and he will be given the top post.

However, Rajinikanth had shocked him and the fans after saying that he will not enter politics owing to his health condition. Days after remaining under shock given by the superstar, Thiagarajan has now decided to join BJP. He will be joining the Central ruling party on Thursday along with Ramkumar and their induction into the party will come three days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival to Chennai.
