It was a sombre occasion as the film fraternity and the political circles bid farewell to the late actor and leader Vijayakanth, who succumbed to a long battle with illness last week. Among the mourners who came to pay their respects was actor Vijay, who shared a close bond with Vijayakanth since his debut film ‘Senthoorapandi’ in 1993.

However, the solemn atmosphere was disrupted by an unexpected incident. A man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, hurled a slipper at Vijay as he was leaving the venue. The slipper missed its target and fell on the ground, but the act was caught on camera and soon went viral on social media.

The incident sparked outrage among Vijay’s fans and well-wishers, who condemned the disrespectful and uncivilized behavior of the slipper-thrower. They demanded that the police take swift action against him and bring him to justice. A complaint was filed by K Appunu, the South Chennai district head of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, the fan club of the actor.

He stated that the slipper attack has hurt the sentiments of Vijay’s fans and requested the police to identify and arrest the culprit. Vijay, on the other hand, did not react to the incident and left the place calmly. He did not let the slipper-slinging affect his composure and dignity.

He showed his respect for Vijayakanth and his family by attending the funeral and offering his condolences.  The police are investigating the matter and trying to trace the man who threw the slipper. They are also looking into the motive behind the attack and whether it was premeditated or spontaneous, following the complaint.
