Indian Southern Railway Ticketing Data Centre has fetched the SKOCH award, which was previously been kept as an old Data Centre and changed to Southern Railway Ticketing Data Centre on 2021 September. In appreciation of the technical prowess of the Southern Railway, the 'SKOCH' Award has been given to the Southern railways for the silver medal in the “governance” category for 2022.

According to a press release from the railways, the new ticketing data center, which took the place of the old one on September 1 of last year, has several cutting-edge features to make it easier to book train tickets across a variety of verticals for the Passenger Reservation System (PRS), Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS), and the mobile ticketing system, for three zones of the Southern Railway, South-Western Railway, and South-Central Railway. The railways' numerous departments had used the data center.

The award-received mobile web application called TPMS, which is used to control the lifecycle of tens of thousands of PRS/UTS peripherals and data connectivity devices. This application is used by Southern Railway at train stations to enhance ticketing services. The TPMS is a green, paperless application that optimises equipment use, assures the smooth operation of the ticketing peripherals, and saves significant time.

The SKOCH award was established in 2003 to recognise individuals, organisations, and projects that go above and above to improve India. A rigorous process is involved in receiving the SKOCH award, which considers all submitted paperwork, presentations made, and open voting at various levels. The entries for the SKOCH Awards are divided into categories for the best in inclusive growth, governance, technology, and innovations.
