Vetrimaaran is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in Indian cinema, known for his hard-hitting and realistic films. His 2018 film ‘Vada Chennai’, a non-linear gangster crime drama starring Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani, Kishore and others, was a huge hit among the critics and the audience. The film ended with a cliffhanger and promised a sequel called ‘Rise of Anbu’, which is yet to be made.

However, what many people don’t know is that Vetrimaaran has already made a spin-off film based on the ‘Vada Chennai’ universe. The film is titled ‘Rajan Vagaiyara’ and it focuses on the life of Rajan, a powerful and charismatic gang leader played by actor-director Ameer in ‘Vada Chennai’. Rajan’s character was pivotal to the plot of ‘Vada Chennai’ and his death triggered a series of events that shaped the lives of the other characters.

In a recent interview, music composer Santhosh Narayanan, who scored the music for  ‘Vada Chennai’, revealed some details about the secret film. He said, “Vetrimaaran has already made a film called Rajan Vagaiyara. It is a two hours film which is yet to be released,"

"It’s one of the best films in Tamil cinema. I personally like it on par or more than Vada Chennai. It will comprise the life of Rajan, from where he came, what he did and how he died.” He also added that the film may release sometime in future, but did not give any specific date or platform.  The film will explore Rajan’s rise and fall in the underworld of North Chennai and his relationship with his family and friends.
